Love can feel euphoric, warm, and magical. Nevertheless, what goes up must come down.
Emotionally we can have breaches with people that we love whether it’s a family member, a close friend, or a lover and inevitably we hurt each other. It’s part of being in relationship and we can’t escape that; it’s just the way our brains are wired and how we perceive things.
So what makes a difference is HOW we patch these breaches up, how we heal them. These differences include considering the words that we use, the gestures that we make, the ways that we treat each other so when it comes to healing, that emotional “wound” is cleaner and not gaping untended to.

This chart describes the difference between a relationship that is driven by fantasy and intensity (red line) versus one that is based in reality (green line).
The steep incline of the red trajectory indicates how quickly a love addict can get obsessed and lost in the fantasy of the relationship without taking time to get to know the other person. This is not sustainable because no one will ever fit the fantasy version of a partner we create in our heads. Therefore, the love addict inevitably loses interest in the relationship when they begin to see that person's imperfections.
The oscillating upward green trajectory represents how true intimacy is built over time. You can see that there are ups and downs (ruptures and repairs), but as you get to truly know your partner on a deep level your love grows slowly, over time. As mentioned time and again, relationships aren’t easy to maintain, but like a garden, the more work you put in to it, the more beautiful and lush it will be come🌱🪴🌷💐
