Legendary Lore

I found this slanderous, yet funny, little innuendo-poem in "Priapeia" 😄

"Caesar conquered the Gauls, but Nicomedes conquered Caesar;
Now Caesar gets his triumph for conquering the Gaul,
But Nicomedes, who conquered Caesar, gets no celebration at all."

I've used BC/AD and BCE/CE interchangeably, but thanks to an angry comment on one of our videos I've been thinking more about this. While not hugely important, I personally, think the BCE/CE system is, honestly, a bit silly. We all know the origin of our era designation — whether you call it "Before Christ" or "Before Common Era," the year 0 still points to the same historical marker.

As someone who is not Christian, I can still recognize that our current system is based on Christian tradition. Trying to force secularization onto something that's clearly tied to the birth of Jesus Christ seems unnecessary to me.

If we really wanted to secularize it, we should probably find some other year to mark as the beginning, or come up with an entirely different method of dating, like using the Roman or Greek systems. But that seems like a massive task that probably isn't worth the effort.

Someone left this (first) review of my modernized version of Meditations, and it’s frustrating because it contains outright falsehoods. The book doesn’t mention Russia or criticize the West at all - which would make no sense as this entire channel is a celebration of the West.

I used AI as a tool to assist with the writing process, just as most authors do these days. But the claim that the book was "translated by ChatGPT" is simply untrue. It took me months of effort to complete.

I'm not sure what this person's intent was, but since it's currently the only review, it unfortunately carries a lot of weight. If you’ve read the book, I would be forever grateful for an honest review. It’s completely fine if you don’t feel it deserves five stars - just share your genuine thoughts.
