Tengokuno

Hey all,

First of all, thank you to everyone who kindly checked out and purchased some music over the last 24 hours. You guys are great, and it'll give me a good transportation boost in my search for employment.

With that said, I'm currently taking a couple of days this weekend to reclaim my filming area in an attempt to finally get the footage I need for PZL Tengoku. I'd mentioned before that my first video is going to be a comparison baseline for everything that comes after, but in addition to that, it will also feature some really neat quirks and some very rare items.

Game Boy Tetris will be a fun one to examine, and with seven copies from around the world on-hand, not to mention some really cool vintage tech - both original and reconditioned - to play and display them, I'm sure the end result will be something rather special.

I'm glad I was able to afford gathering these specimens when I could, and now that I've been forced out of (admittedly menial) fulltime manual labor, I'll have the time and energy to really craft the best videos I've ever made. All of my previous experience combined with new filming and editing techniques, and equipment, all-new music and audio -- there's potential for enormous growth here, and I know there has been a lot of anticipation for what's next. Let's get it done, and let's grow the channel. Who knows, maybe *this* is actually my new job!

I'll keep you all updated.

Hey all,

Bad news: I'm officially unemployed. I was laid off without any real warning and that sucks.

The good news: New content will be easier than ever to create with almost unlimited time between job searches.

Maybe better news for me: It's Bandcamp Friday today. I could really use a boost and Bandcamp Friday gives all proceeds to the artist rather than taking a cut on the sales. I sell my music for criminally cheap rates. But every little bit will help.

I know it sounds like an ebeg, but I don't think my music is a bad deal. Check it out if you have the time and a few bucks. A lot of my music is also licensable and I'm open for music and BGM commissions.

Thanks everyone. Hopefully I won't completely implode.

Tengokuno

Hi all,

I promise, I'm still alive. Many of you are probably wondering where all the content and streaming went, and the truth is, I'm trying to manage some health issues right now. As some of you know I took a heart attack in 2020, and some of the hallmarks of another are rearing their heads. At the insistence of my wife, (Daeruna) I've addressed this with my doctor and steps are being taken with his guidance.

I'd be lying if I said that was all, though; My filming space is completely overrun with clutter, ranging from boxes of electronic salvage to stacks of arcade boards, and it needs to be cleared up before I can get much done at all. I'm in the process of ditching the salvage as it never went anywhere anyway.

[Important reminder below] All this is to say that I hope to have new stuff out soon. Dae and I have gotten back into Magic: The Gathering, and I have some great Vintage features planned for the channel to broaden our audience even more! It's called Tengokuno: Dequemaster, and while it won't have the same level of produced videos and anything else we'll make, (mostly due to the extreme cost-to-value ratios of vintage stuff) it's bound to be pretty interesting.

One side to these new videos is opening the same kind of packs I got in the 90s. Again, these are expensive nowadays, so not many can really be opened like this (though with increased viewership, who knows?) During these preproduced videos, an indicator will show if each card revealed is new to me, or if I've reclaimed a lost piece. I've amassed a decent amount of sealed vintage for this, including two Revised Edition starter decks. OF COURSE, I'll keep one sealed, because they are firmly into four figures to obtain, and rising. But one will be opened if - no, when - we get to 5000 subscribers. It's gonna be a good time.

Aside from that, new STG and PZL videos are obviously also planned; New Tetris announcements have us needed to create a baseline episode for PZL Tengoku, and the new Ranma 1/2 series on Netflix is opening the door for an old favorite of mine.

And of course, our planned Breath of Fire retrospective series is still going to happen... sometime.

Finally, our livestreams will be starting up again with the inaugural Battalion Classic Arcade stream this weekend. It's a whole new look for the same great content we streamed on Mudprints! You may have also noticed a new stream format: The Live version Tengokuno Dequemaster, which explores brand new releases and full booster box breaks with our audience. These DO NOT replace the weekend gaming streams, and are destined to be fairly infrequent due to the release and acquisition speed of these large-scale boxes. I may incorporate some Magic: The Gathering Arena to add some gameplay sessions and rank-chasing into the mix. What do you guys think? As is typical, all livestream VODs will be made unlisted next-day, and added to the corresponding live playlist at that time.

To summarize, things will get going again when my space is cleared and if my arteries haven't imploded. As a quick, important reminder, Tengokuno is NOT shmups-focused *by design*; it is meant to explore other facets of gaming both on the screen and off, in the hopes that it not only broadens the interests of single interest folks, but also to bring a great many people that would otherwise not cross paths, together. Please be patient if a video releases that isn't in your wheelhouse; another catered to your taste is likely to follow.

Thank you all for your support. That we hit over 1100 subscribers already despite my IRL setbacks is, frankly impressive, and the content here is already eclipsing the performance of pretty much every recently production on Mudprints. As we grow more features will become available. THANK YOU!
