Ok, so a Vanilla OS 2 video will be coming early next week, Monday or Tuesday.

I had a bit of trouble using it with an Nvidia GPU on real hardware, as the Android app support (with Waydroid) didn't work, since the distro locks you to x11 with Nvidia drivers.

It's all fixed now (used a different PC, without Nvidia), but it does mean the video will be next week instead of this week!

Also, I was on a nice little call with System76 yesterday, with plenty of other creators and writers, and you can expect a first look at the Cosmic alpha next week. It's a alpha in name only, as it's already pretty feature packed!

Should I cover Vanilla OS 2 in a video this week?

The Linux Experiment

Hey everyone!

I don't talk about it often, because I already have sponsors on the videos, and I don't want to riddle the content with more self promotion, but here is a small reminder that you can get some nice perks for 1€ per month (regional pricing notwithstanding) if you become a YouTube Member, or a Patreon Supporter :)

These include:

- A weekly Patroncast where I talk about the channel, personal things, and some recent Linux News that wouldn't really work as a video. For example, I talked about the NixOS situation and codes of conduct in the latest episode, on Monday.

- A Daily Linux News audio show, that you get either as an RSS Feed from Patreon, so you can add it to a podcast client, or as a Members Only video on YouTube. it's 5 to 10 minutes, from Monday to Friday, and it's basically the content you get weekly in the News Video, but in a daily, audio-only format!

- Voting rights: every month, I ask supporters to vote on a few topics that I then cover on the channel.

Why should you care?

The more support I can get through viewers, the less sponsors I need to have!

On top of that, it also lessens the channel's reliance on YouTube's algorithm, which hasn't been kind to the channel in July, as recommendations dropped off a cliff and views are way lower than they usually are.

Don't worry, I'll still make every video for free, on YouTube, I'm not paywalling any video, ever!

But if you're interested in a few perks, don't hesitate to support! We're already more than 200 YouTube Members, and more than 400 Patrons :)

I'm doing another one of my little surveys, this time to see which parts of using #Linux on the desktop are the most problematic, and the various issues people are having.

I'll make a video on these results next week, and depending on the answers, maybe I'll make more videos on specific issues, either to explain these topics, or to see how we could improve.

So, here is the form, feel free to fill it out and share it around, so we have as many answers as possible!

As always, the form won't be perfect, but this time, there are "other" fields so you can let me know whatever I left out! This will expire on the 28th, so you also have more time to fill it out than the last :D
