Welcome to StuTalks! A channel of movie reviews, tv reviews and anything else thats worth talking about.. subscribe and spread for the meaning of life.
Folks! I’m well and truly knee deep in London Film Festival screenings - 4 days in and we’ve already filled out the list nicely, with plenty more to come 👀 I’ll have some videos up on the channel from next weekend, but until then make sure you’re following me on Letterboxd for some quick thoughts on everything I’m seeing: boxd.it/7irp
Folks! Re-sharing a video from a few weeks back that I’m super proud of (and you may have missed!)
Feels like nostalgia is inescapable in cinema currently, but I’ve been drawn to two films in particular that are doing super interesting things with it.
Those films are Jane Schoenbrun’s I SAW THE TV GLOW and Alice Rohrwacher’s LA CHIMERA: two absolute gems that both use past media to evoke feelings of nostalgia, for their own unique themes on oppression and liberation.
Hey pals, taking a bit of a break this weekend as my first actual weekend off from work/festivals/life in god knows how long. Will be back with some delicious new stuff on the channel in the coming weeks!
For now though wanted to say big thank you to everyone who has watched the Venice Diary series - 3 videos I’m super proud of, that were so much more creatively rewarding than Ie expected them to be.
If you’ve got a spare moment to catch up on them or rewatch them, then all three are in their own little Venice playlist now: www.youtube.com/playlist?list...
🚨 The first of three Venice videos goes up today at 5PM GMT 🚨
I decided to take a different approach to festival content this time around, in order to get the most out of the experience while I was there, but also to take a bit of pressure off having to do a full review for as many films as possible.
This year has been so much more rewarding for taking time to make videos I'm truly proud of VS the usual review format that I've found more and more stale - especially during the festival season.
So, with dad-cam in hand and a load of great company, I've made a series of videos I'm so so happy with, that should mix bite size film reviews with some exploring of a bucket list film festival/city. So excited to share the first video later today! ❤️
Having such an amazing first Venice Film Festival experience! I’ve been documenting it all, and you’ll have three long-ish form videos in the coming weeks where I’ll be giving you immediate short reactions to everything I’ve seen, as well as taking you around Venice and the festival itself. Really really proud of the videos coming your way, and I hope you’re just as excited 👀
Until then, reminder that you can catch my thoughts on everything post Embargo over on Letterboxd: boxd.it/7irp
Hey folks, Sorry it's been a minute - I've been incredible busy with all sorts of things needing to be sorted in prep for something incredible exciting happening over the next few weeks in Italy... that's right baby - I'm off to Venice! Lots of a great cinema lined up between now and the start of September! As this is a new, bit of a bucket list festival for me, I'm not sure exactly what films are going to get full coverage here on the channel - but i'll be documenting as much of the festival as possible, so you should see thoughts about everything I catch there in some shape or another. Oh, and of course you can always make sure you're following me over on Letterboxd (@stuwilson) for any immediate thoughts! So excited!
