Hi! I'm Olive Fellows. I talk about books here on YouTube and write about them in freelance book reviews. I enjoy reading nonfiction, literary fiction, and the occasional genre fiction book.
My apologies, but there won't be a new video up on my channel today. Needed to get some rest! Have a lovely Sunday and I'll be back with new content shortly ❤️
Since I'm still getting a number of questions about the future of Nonfiction November, I've answered the ones I'm getting the most frequently.
I wish I knew exactly what the future holds for the event, but since I have officially stepped down as host, it's not really up to me anymore! I do know that my baby has grown up and taken the book world by storm. I'm confident that we will all keep reading nonfiction in November, just as we have been doing for all these years. ❤️ #NonfictionNovember
Hi everyone! I won't have a new video up today, sadly. I've been extremely busy so I'm still working on the video I had planned for this weekend. I should have some new content up later this week. ❤️
I'm still alive! It's been an extremely busy summer and I've not had a lot of extra energy for making content. I'm not reading as much as normal, but I am listening to music and watching things when I can. Here's what's been keeping me entertained lately 😎
Welcome to everyone who found me through my Barnes & Noble video & a hearty hello to all my longtime viewers! I've not been able to film this week due to a busy schedule and rubbish, dark weather here in Pittsburgh. And then today I'm celebrating 17 years (17 years!) together with my husband by seeing the BEST PLAY EVER, The Importance of Being Earnest! I'm working on my review of Table for Two by Amor Towles and I'll get it up as soon as I can. Enjoy your weekend, friends! ❤️
Hi everyone! Apologies, but I don't have a new video for today. Life has been hectic lately, so I may occasionally need to miss a week of uploading for the next few months. I'm still reading, though, so I'll have plenty to talk about when I have time to sit down and make a video! In the meantime, in case you missed it, last weekend I was lucky enough to be a guest on the Women's Prize Plodalong. We chatted about the Women's Prize for Nonfiction Longlist and controversial opinions on ice cream flavors, then played some games! It was great fun, if you want to watch it back.
Hi everyone! I had planned to make a book vs. movie video for Killers of the Flower Moon since I just read the book then went to see the film, but besides Lily Gladstone's performance and the fact that the movie's existence will draw attention to an important story, I have nothing nice to say about it. Making a rant video sounds exhausting right now, so I'm not going to do that.
Instead, I'll just say I think the movie was unforgivably long (3 and a half hours!), the choice not to keep the early part a mystery (like it was in the book) was baffling, and Leo DiCaprio grimaced through the whole thing. I kept looking at the exit sign in the theatre, dreaming about the moment I could leave (I thought I was going to make a video, or else I just would have left.) I don't understand some of the good reviews it's getting, but if you care about my opinion on it, read the book and skip the movie. Or, if you do want to see it, at the very least wait until you can stream it at home. It is not worth sitting in a theatre that long. AND DEFINITELY READ THE BOOK FIRST. The movie will ruin things for you if you don't.
