I still remember how inadequate I felt as a young man trying to figure out how to walk with integrity through life. I had deep personal struggles that made me feel incompetent and hopeless. I desperately wished I could meet a mentor...one I deeply respected because he lived with integrity, one who I felt safe enough sharing how messed up I felt, one who would be willing to help make sense of my confusing world and the experiences I was navigating.
Unfortunately, I never met such an individual. This led me to many more years of making a mess of my life and hurting so many in the process. Thankfully, I was able to find my way after much pain and loss. But I have never forgotten from where I came.
