Aarohi Open Learning Community

Aarohi is not a school. It has no classes, no curriculum, no teachers, no exams, and no homework. Each child’s interests drive the child’s doing and learning. But leading the self doesn't mean doing it alone.

Aarohi is an open learning community of children, parents, and resource people - all connecting, collaborating, and coaching each other, everybody learning based on one's interests and needs. Aarohi’s vision is to offer an environment and process that empowers children to learn what they want, and how they want it by deciding, doing, and reflecting.

Aarohi Open Learning Community

Some people have told us that every parent should do Jagriti. Well, we're not so sure of that, but we believe that Jagriti will value add to parents who're
> wanting to deeply understand their children and his or her learning and development
> constantly working on a relationship that would enable the child to blossom into the unique human that he or she is
> not worried about child's future, rather focussed on the joy all can have in the years together
As we prepare for the next (58th) batch of Jagriti, we invite you to embark on an UnParenting -UnLearning journey with us.

JAGRITI - an online unlearning program for parents and teachers - giving you fresh perspectives into your child and their learning, growing journey. While what you know and have been doing as a parent is correct, there are atleast 50 more ways of seeing the same thing. When we open up our windows, we get to see new vistas. Automatically, these new perspectives lead us to respond to and work with our child in different and perhaps much more effective ways. The child, in the end, is a huge beneficiary. That we start enjoying our working with the child is a nice side benefit.
Jagriti has 16 sessions - 58th batch starting, 20th Jan 2023
Twice a week (Tue-Fri), 9 pm to 11 pm (India), 7:30 pm (Dubai), 4:30 pm (London)
Since it is online - you can attend this from anywhere in the world.

See details of Jagriti here

The sessions will be led by Aditi, Ratnesh, who have been living the life of co-creation with children in the past 22 years and would bring their experience, expertise and most importantly stories from the Aarohi Community.

CONTRIBUTION
All Aarohi's programs work on an open contribution basis called AKSD: Indicated contribution is Rs 16,000/- to 20,000/- AKSD, meaning apni Khushi se do - Give as per your wish - is based on the belief that your being part of Aarohi is not a service or transaction. Aarohi Open Learning Community

In year 2007, when we started our journey of open learning / unschooling our 9 year old daughter, Asawari (she is 24 now)
First, we thought there were no other families doing this - but to our surprise we found many - though spread across the country.
Then we realised that there is no network or support system or much sharing and that is when we thought it would be wonderful to form a community of families - so we started Aarohi.
And since then Aarohi has been blessed with so many families and children - from each we have learned and through each we have found ourselves stronger.

The CoCreating workshop is one such initiative to not only share our experiences and learnings with you, but to also gently invite you to join the fold of families who talk, chalk and walk this wonderful journey of learning and living together.

COCREATING
A Workshop for PARENTS
to start / enrich your family's OpenLearning, HomeSchooling, UnSchooling Journey.
Four interactive sessions:
1) FLOURISH - Understanding how in different ways each child is a leader of self and how we can allow this leadership to grow, to flourish.
2) NOURISH - How we together with the child create an ongoing menu of detailed preparation and deep doing - all leading to rich learning.
3) GARNISH - We all want to and do constantly add value to the child’s learning journey - let’s explore more possibilities and pathways.
4) RELISH - The real joy of a learning journey comes from reflecting on what was wonderful, what needs working and what can be left behind. What we relish, in turn, helps us flourish.
All sessions followed by discussions, sharing, Q&A and sharing of resources in a whatsapp group.

WORKSHOP DETAILS:
Schedule: Tuesday & Friday (ONLINE programme)
Dates : 29th Nov, 2nd Dec, 6th Dec and 9th Dec
Timings: 1.5 hours: 9pm - 10:30pm

As a preparation for the program - ensure that you have attended a few online Saturday meet-ups conducted by Aarohi to get a foundational understanding of Open Learning. You can alternatively listen to recordings of these meetups from youtube playlist.

Aarohi Open Learning Community

Have you heard / said this: "There is nothing to be afraid of!"
Well how about instead of saying NO to fear, we get down to KNOWING fears

In this webinar
We would approach fears first from an acceptance perspective. "Its alright to have any fear".

Remember fear lurks in the dark corners of our mind - where logic seldom works. Our assertion is that once the child is assured of this - the child would be more open to dealing with it.
Then we spend time understanding fears, turning them around through multiple looking glasses.
Then we hand it over to the kid and say - "Its all yours. Enjoy it, love it, embrace it, hug it, kiss it!

Join us for an online webinar on zoom on 23rd Nov 2022, Wednesday night 9pm to 10:30pm IST
