Alright everyone, fun’s over. “How to Play Bretonnia” is now permanently changed to “How to Play Skaven”, with a new thumbnail to match. It’s the exact same video as before, and it’s still full of surprising twists for new viewers, the only thing that’s different is that it now tells you it’s about the rats upfront. I wanted to keep the “director’s cut” in place for longer, I genuinely think it’s the better way to experience it, but I don’t want to push my luck and risk the video getting reported for being deceptive.
The reception to this video has been insanely positive, and I’m especially glad to see that most of you enjoyed the “director’s cut” framing. This was an absolutely fantastic way to end one year and start the next, so thank you all for your support and enthusiasm! I’ve got a lot of plans for 2025, so the wait for the next upload should be much, much shorter this time lol
Hey everyone, sorry it’s been so long with no updates. My mental health took a dive around the time I was finishing the Gelt video (for reasons completely unrelated to the channel), and I wasn’t able to summon the motivation to work on anything new for quite a while after that.
But now I’m feeling mostly better, the motivation is back, and I am extremely excited to announce that my latest video, “How to Play Bretonnia”, will be going live about 7-and-a-half hours from now! (9am AEDT, 10pm UTC/GMT, seems like the best compromise for the majority of viewers). You already know what to expect from the title, it’s gonna be another completely normal Total Warhammer/whiteboard vid :)
*FOR THE BEST POSSIBLE VIEWING EXPERIENCE*: avoid scrolling down to the comments section (of the video, not this post) before you watch, and try to watch it within the first day if you can. This campaign had a lot of dramatic twists in it, and there’s one moment in particular that I really want to put in the thumbnail (cause it’s unbelievably hype and I know it’ll bring in a lot of viewers), but it also lands better when you don’t have it spoiled in advance. So as a compromise, to enable the better artistic experience while not shooting myself in the foot financially, I’m giving you 24 hours with a spoiler-free thumbnail before I change it. I know, I know, it’d be cool to just keep it spoiler-free forever, but I promise, you’ll understand why I made this choice when you see the video for yourself.
In addition to my Patreon ( patreon.com/yrridian ) for long-term support, I’ve now enabled Super Thanks for my channel for one-off donations. Please don’t feel obligated to give me anything, especially if money is tight, but if you end up enjoying the new vid so much that you want to throw actual money at me then I'll be happy to take it! I’m not in a desperate situation or anything, but I did have to move back in with my parents, and I’d love to be able to afford rent again next year lol.
Finally, thank you all for your patience and kind words over the last couple of years. I was worried I’d get a lot of angry comments about the lack of uploads, but the vast majority I’ve seen have been really nice, and much more concerned with whether I was doing ok than whether I had something new to post. You’re a great audience, I hope you enjoy this next one, and I’m looking forward to making more videos in 2025.
