Explore the fascinating, surprising and sometimes dark world of mental health from the earliest civilisations to the present day with a neuropsychiatrist with over 30 years of clinical experience and a lifetime passion for history. I am planning to present a wide range of topics about mental health and how this has impacted on historical figures and celebrities, and how our understanding of mental symptoms has changed over time. There will be horror stories but also positive and uplifting stories and you will be challenged to reconsider some of the things you thought you knew. I aim to upload a new video every week - they will all have academic referencing in the description, so will be useful for anyone studying medicine, psychology or the social sciences, but hopefully they will also be of interest to anyone who likes history.
