Since my teenage years, whenever I’ve felt overwhelmed or needed to vent about things beyond my control, his response has been the same: a hearty laugh followed by a sigh and a good-natured, 'Oh well,' delivered in his radio-friendly voice. At first, I thought he was being dismissive and this was a signal it was time to get off the phone. But one day, I realized it was his way of saying sometimes we just need to let things go.


Curious, I explored the history of the phrase 'Oh well.' It turns out, this simple expression has helped people self-soothe for centuries, offering a subtle reminder to surrender. I invite you to try it yourself. When life starts to feel overwhelming and out of your hands, take a deep breath, sigh, and say, 'Oh well.' You might be surprised at how this small act can help you detach, reclaim your peace, and refocus on what truly matters and fulfills you.

Happy first day of Autumn! This is a season I love to dive into headfirst, evoking all the cozy scenarios that the crisp air and fallen leaves may bring. Tonight's story was inspired by the lakeside community where I spent part of my childhood in upstate NY and the many autumns I spent running through a friend's family-run apple orchards.

Escape to Applebrook Hollow, where you stroll through rows of apple orchards to arrive at the Cider Shop, a charming pop-up experience in the lakeside lodge. Sip hot cider from the deck watching sailboats drift by. A sunset canoe ride brings you to a cozy cabin where you spend the night with a beloved pet by the fire. Get cozy and unwind tonight. Michelle's Sanctuary Stories for Sleep

This was me. Five years ago. I was starting over after ending a 10-year-relationship. A non-profit asked me to come aboard for a project where on camera I would read a letter from my mom for the first time. In the letter she talked about moments that held her back and things she wished she had done differently. My mom never finished college because her father insisted she was meant to get married and have kids and it would just be a waste of time and money. She spent her entire life questioning her intelligence because she lacked a degree. And then, on camera, I was asked to respond to her words. And I said, "Mom your wisdom goes beyond any degree. I've spent my life in rooms with some of the most educated people in the country-- and you have just as much to offer."

I was in such a vulnerable state at this time-- questioning if I would succeed or handle all the financial struggles now in my way as a newly single woman with a hefty NYC rent. But I decided to commit myself to everything that truly mattered. Michelle's Sanctuary became one of my main priorities and it is when I started releasing every week.

At the time, a friend encouraged me and said "You've got this." He grew up surrounded by famous artists and composers and said to me that every one of them was just as afraid as I felt at the time. But they just did it anyway.

This is the inspiration behind this week's meditation‪@MichellesMeditationSanctuary‬ "You've Got This." If you need someone to be the voice of encouragement in your life, listen as I remind you that no matter what may come our way, we've got this. You've got this.

How is your weekend going? I made a quick trip upstate to feed my imagination with lakeside escapes and puppy adventures. But I still managed to remaster and compile a collection of stories with new soothing background sounds.

Years ago I was in a friend’s basement laundry room surrounded by books and generous souls and the idea for the Cozy Launderette was born. As the stories evolve, I have the chance to bring to life the unique strangers who became dear to me with the magic of Manhattan as a backdrop (or maybe a main character) — a place for fellow dreamers and chosen families that show up when you least expect it.
