“Love Beyond Measure”, Oil on Panel, Diptych, 9 in. Tondos. I already had purchased these gilded Tabernacle frames last year in preparation for two portraits that would go on a buffet in my dining room. I thought it would be interesting to have these paintings stand on a table rather than be hung on a wall, just as we would do with our family photographs. I love too how the gold frame adds a saintly halo quality to the subjects, my children. I took out all distractions from these portraits in terms of backgrounds and clothing with a pure focus on the facial features, each child showing a very different expression, Alessandra with a knowing smile and Enzo with an exuberant burst of joy on his face.

This 40-year-old African-American gentleman is shown before and one year after an FUE transplant to rebuild the frontal half of his scalp, including a lost hairline. He is of multiracial descent and wanted a slightly softer, rounded hairline that reflects his ethnicity more accurately. Of note, Dr. Lam performs all of his own FUE harvesting himself and does not delegate this out to others.
