Hailed by the press for “emphatic and warm hall-filling sound” and “moments of magic” in his playing, cellist Alvin Wong has appeared as a concerto soloist in Asia, Australia, Europe and USA. As a recitalist and chamber musician, Alvin performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Seoul Arts Center, and Hong Kong Cultural Centre. An advocate for new music, Alvin has premiered concertos and works written for him by Grammy Award and Pulitzer Prize winners.
Dr. Alvin Wong gives masterclasses around the world and online. He held lectureship at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and Connecticut College, and received his Doctor of Musical Arts from Yale University. In 2022 Alvin joined the faculty of the Hanover University of Music, Theatre and Media in Germany.
