✅Life in Nova Scotia, with a focus on cost of living

Looking at the grid that Alberta released yesterday, the only way to maximize your points is to get HIGHER EDUCATION, get a JOB OFFER and accumulate work experience in rural areas! Just like in BC, you need to carefully plan where to study and where to get your job offer.
Most employers in Canada still prefer the ones with open work permit like PGWP, because they don’t have to go through the LMIA process.
Here are the key highlights of the AAIP grid:
✅ Obtaining a Master’s degree in Alberta will increase your points in Education ✅ Aim for a minimum CLB 6 on your English test ✅ Accumulate at least 12 months of Canadian work experience ✅ Applicants aged 21-34 will receive the max points in age ✅ Strong family connections in Alberta can enhance your score ✅ A job offer from rural communities boosts your points

As expected, IRCC has announced upcoming changes to the Post-Graduation Work Permit and the Open Work Permit. Check out the official announcement from the Canada website. Although IRCC has not yet confirmed the implementation dates, here are the key points to keep in mind:
✔️ PAL for Masters and Doctoral Students: The 2025–2026 study permit intake cap will include master’s and doctoral students who will now have to submit a provincial or territorial attestation letter. ✔️ Changes on PGWP Eligibility: Graduates from programs at public colleges will remain eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) of up to three years if they graduate from a field of study linked to occupations in long-term shortage (more updates coming soon). ✔️ English Requirement for PGWP Applicants: As part of changes to the PGWP Program, all applicants will be required to demonstrate a minimum language proficiency in French or English. CLB) level 7 for university graduates and CLB 5 for college graduates will be required for anyone applying for a post-graduation work permit on or after November 1, 2024. ✔️ Open Work Permit (OWP) Eligibility: Limiting work permit eligibility, later this year, to spouses of master’s degree students to only those whose program is at least 16 months in duration.
⚠️IMPORTANT NOTE: Further information on the measures will be announced on November 1, 2024. For prospective students holding a letter of acceptance for a program that is not linked to an in-demand job, I highly advise you to either change your program or submit your study permit application before Nov 1, 2024. If you need guidance, I have a free discovery call tonight Sep 20, 2024 at 9PM Manila time. www.studyliveexploreca.com/slestarterkit
Another success story of one of our dedicated members, Cha, and her family.
Cha and her family have been permanent residents in Singapore, workinf in IT and Hospitality industry. One of their biggest challenges was their age, with Cha being 45 and her spouse 50. 🇸🇬 🇨🇦
We were prepared for the possibility that gaining approval might not be easy. But Thanks to Cha’s attention to detail, they managed to lodge their application within just one month of joining our coaching program. They received approval on their first try! Cha’s story is a powerful reminder that doing your best on your first attempt is always better than treating it as a trial run.
Cha is now about to start her Master’s in Information Security at Concordia University in Alberta. 👏👏👏

Discover the only beach in Canada on the World’s Best Beaches list! 🌊This secluded paradise is a must-visit, and this is our second time hiking here, and it never disappoints.
How to get here from Vancouver or Victoria:
✅ Drive: From Vancouver, take the ferry to Departure Bay, and start your journey with a 4-hour drive from Nanaimo to Port Hardy (5.5 hour drive from Victoria to Port Hardy). 🚗 ✅Off-road Adventure: From Port Hardy, gear up for a 2-hour drive on a rough road—4WD is a must! 🛻 ✅ Hike: Be prepared for a 2.5 km hike one way (40 mins). Stay alert for wildlife like bears, cougars, and wolves. 🐻
🚗 Due to its remote location, this beach is often quiet, giving you the feeling of having this stunning spot all to yourself! 😘
I usually don’t post our exact locations when we visit places, but many people have been asking where this is. The main reason I didn’t share the location before is that I wanted to avoid overcrowding, but I’ve realized that we shouldn’t gatekeep these places. Everyone should enjoy them as we did.
So let me share this hidden gem we visited four years ago near Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island. It’s called “Old Baldy Mountain.”
It’s about an hour drive from Victoria. When you’re close, look for the yellow gate. Unfortunately, there are no road signs leading to this place, but you’ll know you’re almost there when you see other hikers parked near the yellow gate.
We have hiked this trail twice and have never encountered any bears, but it’s better to carry bear spray just in case. Pack some lunch so you can eat at the top with a mountain view. Don’t forget to bring water because the hike is a bit steep, but the view is worth it!😘
Good luck, and remember to leave only footprints. Enjoy the hike! 🇵🇭🇨🇦🍁#explorecanada
I wanted to share a success story from one of our students, Jane, to help you understand the importance of early application.
Jane is a business owner in the Philippines and family of 7! Jane’s journey took five months of preparation. As you can imagine, helping a large family navigate the process isn't easy, especially if you try to do it yourself.
It's important to remember that you might face some challenges while waiting for approval. IRCC might ask for additional information about your documents which can extend the waiting period to roughly 3-5 months.
What can we learn from Jane’s journey? The key takeaway is to APPLY AS EARLY as possible to ensure you can make it to your intended intake!🙏
Despite the delays, Jane never gave up. With SLE's support, she finally succeeded and will be attending Camosun College this September! Kaya levern lang! 👏👏👏
