Day 9 Post Op From Hip Replacement Revision (Saturday Vlog)

Every single day gets better and better. I felt so strong today but I know I have to pull in the reigns on myself as I am a go-getter and want to do everything that I possibly can. There are several things that I can’t do - bend at the waist, pick up anything below my knees, cross my legs and I think that is just about it. I have tried all of these things (subconsciously) and believe me there is a reason we are told NOT to do these things. Do not get me wrong - I am tired this evening and I will sleep like a champ tonight. BTW, no pain meds! I just can’t believe how this surgery is so different than my first surgery - I guess that is what happens when there is an issue from the get-go! Washing my hair, blowdrying it and putting it up in rollers felt so good. I looked in the mirror and could see me returning to my normal self. As you can tell, no filters on any of these pictures - I made a promise to myself not to use filters around 8 months ago and no turning back. I'll vlog again soon. Hugs, KC

I have missed you but honestly haven’t felt like posting on social media. This hip revision replacement put me in such a funk but THB with you I feel so much better this go round. There is still pain but it is healing pain and that gives me hope. I wanted to back out of the surgery about a week prior to it, but by the Grace of God, I didn’t. I was blessed with my surgeon, the hospital and hospital staff and my wonderful husband. Let’s talk about my surgeon first….he prayed for me in church the prior Sunday before my operation. When he told me that in pre-op there was such a calm that came over me. God knew what I needed at that moment and I knew I was in good hands once again. The hospital staff was amazing from check-in to my release. Every employee was kind, gentle and concerned with making me comfortable and considering I was on morphine, I was extremely comfortable. I was discharged at hour 23 after surgery (insurance sucks) but honestly my husband is so capable and was (and still is) such an amazing caregiver. I started PT on Monday and will go 2x a week with strict orders to do my exercises at home everyday and to walk, walk, walk. I was able to do 2 small laps today but my goal is to build up and do the larger loop in the next day or so. Walking is the best form of exercise! I’ll post again in the next few days! Hello my beautiful friends,
As you may or may not have realized, I uploaded this week's video earlier than normal (I usually post on Sundays) but I really wanted you to have a video before leaving on a much overdo break from our normal day to day grind. . There will not be a video on Sunday, August 10th. I will resume on Sunday, August 17th. We are trying to escape this Texas heat and get in some great family time. What a difference several hours can make. As you may or may not know about me is that I live between Houston and Galveston, TX. We were hit pretty hard with Hurricane Beryl and while it was only a Category 1 Hurricane, we experienced a lot of damage and it was extremely scary! I've been through so many hurricanes and quite frankly they never get easier and there is always a surprise element with each one. We have power, we are safe and our kids are all good, so all in all we feel blessed. Today nothing felt better than to see our coastal birds flying high in the sky again. #lifeisgood #blessed
