Before I get into the Frequently Asked Questions, let me provide some information about my patient and her treatment plan.

When I use the term “facial contouring,” It refers to a series of small procedures that combine to make a big impact. These procedures include buccal fat removal, neck liposuction, and chin augmentation. This approach is especially beneficial for younger patients who want to enhance their profile and remove excess fat from around the cheeks. I use “younger” here because the key is the SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) or deep plane. For younger patients, there typically isn’t enough laxity or sagging in the deeper layers of the face to warrant a fully invasive deep plane facelift.

Facial contouring is less invasive than a deep plane facelift, which results in a quicker and less intense recovery.

𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘓𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘋𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘐𝘵 𝘛𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘛𝘰 𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳?
Unlike a deep plane facelift, facial contouring does not require extensive downtime. You can expect to be swollen and slightly bruised for a few days, with some soreness, but this can be managed with prescription pain medication. You will need to rest for about one week before you can return to work or school. After just a few months, you will see your fully recovered and newly sculpted facial profile.

This procedure can also be combined with additional complementary procedures such as Morpheus 8. If you remember my recent male facial contouring patient, Robert, he had a strong chin, and instead of a chin augmentation, more focus was placed on his neck. After the initial recovery, he came in for Morpheus 8 to further improve his results.

Cheryl is a patient of mine from all the way back in 2022. She was thrilled with the results, as was I. We weren't the only ones, however, because shortly after posting her for the first time, it was brought to my attention that her images had been stolen and were being used by a skincare company to promote their new skincare line. I was a little jealous that they didn't steal one of my pictures instead, but that's beside the point.

The time between these pictures was only two months after her procedure, and as you can see, she already looks stunning! The incision scars were nearly gone by this point, and she couldn’t get enough of how her neck looked. She was thrilled with her results overall, but there was an extra glimmer in her eyes when she looked at the before-and-after pictures of her neck area in particular.

So, I'm sharing her transformation again, this time with old-school images to better illustrate the change. Initially, this patient declined to share her results online. It was only after seeing her results that she became so excited she said, "Go ahead!"

She had previously undergone non-invasive procedures but felt they weren't having the same impact as they did when she was younger.

At three months post-op, she is still considered to be healing. This is not her final transformation. Unfortunately, as an out-of-town patient, we didn't have the opportunity to take as many after pictures as we would have liked. I want to emphasize that the recovery process takes time. As daunting as it may sound to be in recovery for six to twelve months, it’s not as if you look the same on day one as you do at month three or even week two.

This patient was very concerned about her neck. At around 40 years old, she started noticing that her neck was sagging. She had a feeling that she might experience this because it runs in her family. When she first noticed it, she felt she was too young for something invasive like a neck lift, so she decided to wait. Seven years later, she decided that it was the right time to schedule consultations with me and several other doctors. She ultimately chose my practice, but I think it’s important to mention that I always encourage everyone to have at least three consultations before deciding on the doctor who’s right for them.

I love her results, and from day one, you could tell she was going to have a fantastic outcome. Although she looks stunning in her three-month post-op pictures, she is still not fully healed just yet. There is still some swelling that needs to go down. So, if you think she looks great here, just imagine how amazing she’s going to look and feel in another four months.
