This documentary film tells the extraordinary story of a group of American soldiers who went to war in WWII with hundreds of inflatable tanks and a world class collection of sound effects records. Their mission was to deceive the Germans on the battlefields of Europe, often operating within sight and sound of the front lines. They used creativity to save lives.

And thats only half the story. Many of the men were artists, some of whom went on to become quite famous, including fashion designer Bill Blass, and minimalist painter Ellsworth Kelley. The artists in the unit used their spare time to paint and sketch their way across Europe,. The art they created, and the stories behind it, offer a unique perspective on their experiences in war-torn Europe.
