Some say I've been lucky to travel so much through my life so far - over 1.4 million miles flown, over 100 countries visited plus every US state. But luck isn't the reason at all! I chose to spend money on travel, rather than on "sensible" things like houses, children or pensions....
During lockdown, I decided to create this channel to share videos about my travel experiences with the goal of inspiring, educating and entertaining. I review the flights I take and the places I visit, but I also share hacks and tips on how to travel better, for less...

Many of you will know that I have started a second channel here on YouTube to be the new home for my cruise content - Matt's Oceans - youtube.com/mattsoceans. I've been moving my old content across since the channel went live but now everything is across, I can start to release some new content!

Thanks so much everyone - I flew past 5,000 subscribers on Sunday afternoon, and I've made a decent start towards getting to 10,000 since! Thanks also for all of your questions - probably enough for 2 videos! But before I share what their "take it or leave it, we're not going to enter into any discussion with you about this" offer was, what do you think is an appropriate level of compensation for the experience we had? Hello and seasons greetings to y'all.
Just returned from taking a cruise from Florida, a trip which required me to take 4 tests in total to satisfy the requirements of the various authorities... That means I've now taken 7 tests to facilitate travel since the Summer. Which made we wonder about how many tests you've taken? Asking specifically about tests for travel, not for work or other reasons...

Hi again... I've mentioned a couple of times that American Express has boosted its sign-up bonuses. Until November the 2nd, you'll get a 40,000 points bonus for signing up for the American Express Premium Plus card, up from the usual 25,000. You'll need to spend £3k in 3 months to earn this bonus, but if you spend £10k in a year you'll get one of the famous two-fers - a companion voucher for use on BA. As I hinted in my BA Club Europe video, I have booked trips next week in business class on 3 Star Alliance carriers - I've actually booked 4, but I'll leave the 4th as a secret for now... I want to see if they approach intra-Europe premium travel any better than BA...
Which review would you be most keen to see? The options are alphabetical, so as to not lead the jury!!!

I'm really keen to get back flying, but I've done a lot of videos which focus on the impact of the you-know-what and I don't really want to make any more! I'm seeing other creators getting out and about, but the services they're reviewing are still affected by the restrictions, some less than others but all are impacted in some ways... So a question - what do you want to see!!

Today marks the first anniversary of my first upload to YouTube - Maps Lie! 3 Ways Maps Deceive You. Looking back after a year, I am very happy with the content of that video even if I'm less happy with the production quality! Take a look if you fancy a giggle...
It's amazing to reflect on everything that's happened over this last year - its even more amazing to reflect on what hasn't happened... I would never have thought that international travel would have been so restricted for so long - I've only featured 8 flights in that year and its still quite perilous to book anything as so many restrictions are still in force. And they keep changing!
Thanks for the support over the last year and here's to many more!!! And as usual, my weekly video will be going live at 3pm this afternoon.
