WOOD Magazine is the world's most trusted woodworking magazine and your premier source for woodworking info, shop-proven plans, tool reviews, and videos.
WOOD Issue Launch Party! Join us here LIVE Thursday, August 31 at 3pm Central for our October issue launch party. Project designers Kevin and John will stream live from our shop to discuss projects, tools, and techniques. Grab the issue (on newsstands now) and bring your questions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEIry...
Coming Sunday! The eagerly awaited Part Two of the One-Wall Workshop.
Jim says you won't want to miss this mitersaw stand project as he continues to demonstrate how you can build out a modular, customized shop. Speaking of customizations and things Jim says, we're including a blank speech-bubble version of Jim so you can make him say whatever you want. Print him out dozens of times, put words in his mouth, and create your own customized woodworking tutorial starring Jim.
Alternatively, watch Part One of the One-Wall Workshop where Jim shows you how to build a foldaway workbench: youtube.com/watch?v=FvMtr... Or buy the step-by-step plans with detailed drawings for the complete workshop at woodm.ag/1wall
Do your miters look worse than an extra in the second act of a Wes Craven movie? Do your frames have more blowout than a crowd of zombies at the protagonist's bunker? Are you a serial filler? Then, brace yourselves, fans of the 45! Set your alarms early on Sunday to watch Jim "Halloween" Heavey as he faces off against* a shopful of (probably cursed†) bladed tools to build a miter sled that is all treat, no tricks.
* uses with all due safety precautions †not at all cursed. The blast gate for the spindle sander sticks a little, but that's really about all.
If you'd like to build along with Jim's recent video, "5 Tablesaw Jigs from 1/2 Sheet of Plywood," you'll need the plans (woodm.ag/5jigs) and the hardware kit (woodm.ag/5jigskit). Get building!
*Jim did not really say this; the marketing department is putting words in his mouth again and should be ashamed. But don't forget the kit.
