From 1983 to 2007, I was a dedicated music video collector, exchanging tapes with enthusiasts across Europe, the USA, Canada, South America, and Japan. In 2017, I decided to share these rare recordings on YouTube to preserve and celebrate this incredible history.

How I Can Help
If you're an artist or represent a band seeking rare video recordings, feel free to get in touch! Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of supplying rare footage to some of the biggest names in music. If I can assist, I will.

How to Support the Channel

This channel is now on TiKTok. Since many others are taking video from this channel, editing it and sharing it on there, I thought I'd better do the same. Long versions of the videos will still appear here on YouTube.

A plug for another YouTube channel. You might have noticed that my musical taste is all over the place. So here's my brother from another mother on the other side of the world and I'd swear he is rummaging through my record collection, watching his videos is almost spooky. Tell Ben I sent you

Well it's been a while since I did an update of the stats for this channel, but this morning I got an email from Google with the following info for October, yes it does take them a while to collate the stats.
So in October we had just over One Million views, added 1685 new subscribers and over 3.5 Million minutes of video was watched on this channel, not bad. During October I had a few videos blocked outright, which is annoying due to the time wasted digitising the tapes, editing, rendering then uploading, just for an instant block. One band (The Pooh Sticks) asked direct for a video removal, which I did as they were polite about it. Video was supplied from my tapes for use in one documentary on Take That for Netflix and concert video was supplied for use in a documentary which is going into the cinema then streaming sites, but I can't tell you who it is due to signing an NDA, but I can tell you it's about a British rock band... Have you seen Bank of Dave? 😉
What's on the way? Well even I don't know, I have ran dozens of tapes to digital these past few weeks, but there's so many interviews with bands that I don't have much interest in, some already shared on my RUMBLE account, but not here on YouTube as I don't care to share so many interviews on here. So live or miming.. on the way we have Pretenders, The God Fathers, Joe Bonamassa, Nazareth, Baby Animals, INXS, Deep Purple and much more, so stay tuned.

A few years ago, I packed up all my tapes, over 2000 of them and placed them in a storage unit, also in the unit is some of my video equipment and files on the dealers I traded with back in the days before computers really took off. So far, just for storage, I am at a few thousand pounds, it's money I really can't afford to be spending just on storage and over this past week a lady in London has been advising me on archives that might take these tapes.
It's not set in stone that I am getting rid of them, but I have to start looking at options, because if I died tomorrow, then this all goes to landfill, which would not be an issue if the tapes were official releases, easy to pick up for peanuts at second hand stores etc, but 99.9% of these tapes contain collectable music recordings, VHS, Beta, SVHS & Video8 Masters. I'd sell them as a job lot if I could, but whoever bought them would need a lifetime to watch them all. Yesterday, Sat 22nd, I was at the storage unit, to retrieve a few tapes for use on the channel, the boxes did not seem to be in the same position as I had left them 6 months ago, so I recorded a short video, so that I can compare it when I revisit and I thought I'd share it, because there are the rare occasions when people question if I really do have so many tapes and now I will just direct them to this video, click on the link if you wish to see it https://www.patreon.com/posts/106715399

You probably never look at the channel information for Scottishteevee, but if you do or ever did, then you might notice that I changed it a little, cutting out some of the waffle about when I did tape trading etc and I added in details regarding my Patreon account which I never had there, other peoples channels have links to it, I simple forgot about it. But I do use Patreon most days releasing videos on there, often days, weeks and months before they become public on YouTube. In recent days people on Patreon have seen new videos from Simple Minds, Ozzy Osbourne, tomorrow they will get Motley Crue and at the weekend a few Soft Boys concerts, I guess it's a kind of testing ground for videos and I share more background on what I am up to, or things that I did in the past related to the videos. I guess it's more like the old blogs that people used to do back in the day, I dunno if those are still a thing, so for example on Patreon the other day I explained why I chose to release a few videos, it was all down to odd coincidences and then I shared that some video from another channel I film, edit and produce had been featured on Rumble for two days, leading to 150,000 views on there inside 48 hours, which is decent for Rumble.
Anyway, I'll not ramble on much more. If you care to take a look and help me keep this channel going then go take a look at www.patreon.com/user?u=73530530

Well hello and welcome. At the start of every month I try to give subscribers a little behind the scenes info on how this channel is doing, so you are going to see screenshots from the channel analytics, this is just for March 2024. So in March this channel had over 2.4 Million views and added 5800 subscribers. The most watched video this month was Talk Talk, its my life, which in a few days time will become the third most watched video on this channel.
Most new subscribers in March came from the USA and then the UK, as usual Brazil and Russia are in the top 5, though Germany has moved up, usually they are not even in the top ten. Who are the subscribers?
I only just noticed that in Google analytics I can see exactly who new subscribers are by month or year, it lists them by how many subscribers they have, so for example the channel with the most subscribers to join this month is a channel is from Bulgaria, with 190,000 subscribers & 13 Million views. It's nice that these popular YouTubers subscribe, but for me, it's the comments from you good folks that mean the most to me, I like when people say where in the word they are, they mention memories of watching a show at the time of broadcast, or seeing bands at venues around the world, working with bands, or even being in the band. I have seen many comments on videos something like "I have no recollection of doing this". With a reply from another "Neither do I". So then I look at their YouTube accounts and realise that two members of the band in the video are discussing the TV show or concert. The final screen shot shows that this channel has the option to apply to become a YouTube partner and earn cash, I know for me it is not even worth applying, too many copyright claims, so I would not be accepted into the YouTube partner program. Yes there are adverts on many of the videos and all the money generated from them goes to the copyright holders.
This channel does have running costs, power for the VCR's, Computers and most of all storage, as 99% of my tapes are in a storage facility, which costs less than $100 per month, so total running cost is probably about $150 per month not including the 90 hours or so I put into it, so if you care to leave a little donation on my Go Fund Me, it would be most appreciated. Click on link help So what's on the way? Well we have more from Sensational Alex Harvey Band, The Rutles, Arthur Lee's Love, Ronnie Dawson, Hoodoo Gurus, Duran Duran, Iggy Pop and more, a strange mix as always. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Well hello and welcome to another channel update. If you are one of the 8300+ new subscribers to this channel in 2024, then you will not know that I try to keep subscribers informed as to how the channel is performing, you may or may not find this interesting. I am one of the few YouTubers who is happy to share screen shots of this channels google analytics. So as of today the total views to the channel is 51,423,594, that's about 200,000 more than the amount on public display if you ever look up the channel info. This difference is because Google takes 48 hours and often longer to verify all the views and subscribers, this dates back to the bad old days when many influencers and companies / brands would buy views and subscribers, this still happens, but more so on TicTok, Instagram etc.
So where is everyone watching from? Well as usual the USA is number one, followed by the UK and at number three is Brazil, a surprise new entry and pretty much due to many Brazilians watching one video on this channel by an English band called "Talk Talk" which is fast coming up for one Million views just 6 months after I shared it with you good people.
Golden Oldies, no not the music, I'm talking about the average age of the viewers, as you will see from image 3, most of us are in a 48-54 age range and many are a wee bit more mature, I have read a good many comments over the past month from viewers in their 70s and beyond.
Monthly views, are sitting on average about 2 million, so I guess by Christmas this channel will hit 70 Million views and perhaps 160,000 subscribers, we'll see.
Talking of subscribers, you may know that when a YouTube channel hits 100,000 subs the channel qualifies for a silver play button award, it's a nice framed thing sent to you by Google / YouTube and as this channel has way over 100,000 subs, I applied for the award and it was refused. This channel has no strikes, no disciplinary action against it, nothing. One of the reasons for refusal was that "This channel is or was linked to an account which was previously banned" Which is absolute rubbish, as I have never had an account which was banned. I might apply again in a few months, if I get the award I will let you know. Thanks for being here and reading this, I hope you found it of some interest.

Well it's 2024, I never imagine getting here. 50 years ago, my school music teacher told my class that by the year 2000 there would be no oil left and because of that there would probably have been a nuclear war and we would all be dead, which made me wonder why she was so insistent on us learning to sing "Kumbaya, my Lord" 🤣 I hated that song with a passion, still do. 😇 Anyway, I'm rambling, back to this channel. So here's the stats for December, which was the best month this channel has had so far, 2.6 Million views in December 😇 and just shy of 48 Million views in total, if the channel continues like this, then it should be about 70 Million views this time next year. So a big "Thank you" to all who watched, commented and shared, as the things you do are what helps this channel grow and I really do appreciate it.
David Bowie.. Well David never made it to this channel, last week I dug out the Hi8 Master tape of David at the Phoenix festival in 1997, got it uploaded, did the thumbnail / icon image, gave a preview to the few people on my Patreon account, but the moment I made it public it was blocked by Google outright, as was the next concert I uploaded and released from Melanie, which some might say was not such a bad thing 😅
So what's coming in 2024, well I really have no clue, so hang onto your seats it's gonna be a bumpy ride through rock n roll history.

I have kinda fallen behind in digitising tapes recently, but as we roll up to Christmas I am going to try and get some gems ready to share with you. Right now I am transferring five Video8 Master tapes of full concerts from The Ramones, The Cult, Pearl Jam, David Bowie and Metallica, there's only four in the photo as one tape is being done as I type. I'll be visiting my storage unit over the Christmas season to dig out more tapes for you and I'll record a little video to show you where the tapes are and how they are stored. I'm doing this because one misguided viewer recently said I lied about having so many tapes, I can understand his thinking this, but he is very wrong. A quick stats update for the channel, as it scored over 2.3 Million views in the last 28 days alone, the most for any 28 day period and new subscriber numbers is much the same with 4300 new people in the same period.
On Christmas Day at 6PM I will release a full concert from Rory Gallagher, bits of the gig are on one other YouTube channel, but the uploader has withheld about 40 minutes of it, however I'm gonna share the full 100+minute show with you. Thanks for being here, I hope none of you are working on Christmas Day and that you are able to share some time with friends and family.

A stats update for this channel. Usually 5 or six days into the month YouTube will email me to say how good or bad this channel did in the previous month, but it's the 9th & no email from them, so here's five screen shots from the channel Analytics for the last 28 days. Image one is total views, which is just under 2 Million, image two is list of cities where most views come from with London at number 1 and Dublin rockets in at number 2, prior to this, Los Angeles was usually where most views came from. Image three is the age range of people watching the videos and you can see that most viewers are more mature than the age range on other YouTube channels. Image four is gender which is mostly male, but great to see the number of ladies viewing is higher than usual. Image five shows the videos most watched over the last 28 days, no surprise that a video of Shane MacGowan has had 255,000 views and that might explain the massive increase of views from Dublin. I hope you find this interesting, I know of no other YouTube channel which shares this kind of information. So what's on the way, you may wonder and as usual I really cannot be certain, as it is all still very random, but I do have full concerts ready for release by The Only Ones, The Tubes, GBH and Rory Gallagher. Finally, this channel is non profit, I make nothing from it, all revenue from the adverts you may see on any video goes to the copyright holders, my minimum outlay each month is £100 ($125) for tape storage and power. so I have a small ask for you to drop a donation onto my GoFundme account, it would be a great help in keeping this channel rolling and sharing the music. Youtube does not allow me to share a link to GFM, but links do appear on many of my videos.
