LONG POST, PLEASE READ. I have had my former pastors on this channel and so I make this statement 👇🏻

When I make a commitment - and more importantly a convent - publicly, if things ever change, I will also announce that break publicly. My morals and integrity tell me this is the right thing to do. I express this now so every reader has an understanding of why I am making this statement:

The local church is is not only a vital part of our spiritual walk on earth but should be the safest and the most integral place to develop earthly connections and shape the moral fabric of our communities. When I join a church, I make a cognitive decision along with a spiritual covenant to walk alongside the members of that church, the leadership of that church and most importantly the plans God has for that church.

I believe in leadership, submission to that leadership as laid out in the Bible, and fortitude to stand with that leadership and local church even during times of testing. I also believe that we should discern the spirits, know that we were Divinely designed with intuition and given a brain that should all be utilized to the fullest capacity in decision making and critical thinking. If things seem to not at add up, there is confusion and lack of peace amongst people in places of leadership, we ought to not sweep things under the rug but face them head on. When there are cover-ups involved, you can be certain that this is flesh and ego at work at best, and at worst this is a demonically driven agenda that people are partnering with. When we see such things perpetuated continuously, while we may not be able to control or stop somebody else's actions, we best start analyzing our own. Instead of representing Heaven and bringing order and clarity we can partner with darkness and lead others into traps that suffocate the life out of them.

This is one of the worst types of abuse, as people who are new to the faith, are not spiritually sound or new to church culture end up blaming God for people's failures and decisions. We must have leadership who are mentally and emotionally brave enough to call out and stand up against these wrongs. We must become safe havens where this type of manipulation is told "this far and no further." Local churches are not meant to become familial dynasties that are not to be questioned, kiss the ring and served blindly.

I have worked with the International Cultic Studies Association for a few years and one thing to watch for in spiritual abuse scenarios is when there is an obvious divide and suppression of one sex to the other, usually men against women. When men who are abusive to their wives and who are allowed to continue to be in leadership and positions of authority, it's time to question what you are doing at such an organization. When there are women who are specifically being targeted and who are not being defended by their partners, it's time to question why the partner feels unable to fulfill his role as protector of his household.

This is but one major red flag that I bring up only to jolt some out of their complacency. The more pressing issue on my heart is what to do now and where to go from here. Personally, I have stepped down from all positions of service at The Pathway Church and have withdrawn my membership there. I'm grateful for the friendships that I have made at the church, and for the guidance over the years from the staff and the pastors. However, a church membership does not mean abandoning your ability to think and reason or observe and discern.

I have been contacted by several members of this congregation with deep concerns and hurting hearts over the past few months with concerns of negligence of authority, abuse of power and intentional emotional manipulation. It was not until I heard myself directly from leadership training that I did not need to ask God if I was in the right church that I knew I could not continue to be a part of this organization. I've spent the better part of a decade helping people get free spiritually, emotionally, mentally, relationally and financially and yet here I was with the revelation that I have been deeply enmeshed with an organization that twists capacities for connection unto the purpose of control. I can't undo what was done, but I can offer what I have to help anyone who has suffered spiritual abuse and emotional manipulation to recover and move forward.

I encourage everyone to watch this short video. It describes the language, mindsets and deliberate plans that create the environment for abuse to occur inside churches. https://youtu.be/ZyddciicMZM?si=RLRSa...

Elders, oversight, organizational membership and any other form of accountability are a necessity when you are directly impacting people's identities and their destinies. For that reason, I have partnered with the International Cultic Studies Association to create the Facebook group linked below that anyone can join. It will contain resources that can help you understand what spiritual abuse feels like, looks like and sounds like, how to make sense of behaviors and words that cause cognitive dissonance, and how to heal your own heart, mind, identity and find harmony once again with your place in the world. I hope your disconnect from Jesus is never an option even amid atmospheres like these.

My goal is to help where I can, but this is by no means a job for only one person. I remind those who feel trapped or stuck that the greatest weapon against manipulation is your confident voice and bold spirit.

There are so many myths out there when it comes to negotiation and specifically with a narcissist.

💓First, people think that there's no way you can negotiate with a narcissist. That's simply isn't true. Now you might not be able to negotiate the way that YOU have been doing it, but that doesn't mean that it's impossible altogether.

💓 Second, people think of negotiation as an official court-ordered mediation session. And while that's part of it, every single time that you interact with the narcissist, is a negotiation. If you don't treat the interactions like this, it will be very difficult for you to get a negotiated settlement.

💲This year my Black Friday sale is learning how to negotiate with a narcissist. Need to negotiate over your children's holiday schedules? And learn how to do so in this course. For the rest of the month this course is only $47.
