Oslo-based art rockers Dim Gray play melody-driven songs in a post-progressive soundscape. Dim Gray incorporate elements from folk music into a forward-thinking aesthetic, in a sound that evokes a blend of Radiohead and Fleet Foxes. A wide and ever-changing palette of sounds and ideas is rooted in the constants of aching vocals and trembling guitars. The 52 minute debut album Flown is set for release this spring.
Dim Gray’s members come from three different places—musically and geographically. Håkon Høiberg, Oskar Holldorff and Tom Ian Klungland all moved from different parts of Norway to the capital, Oslo, in 2012. They found each other, and started playing together. With entirely different references and tastes in music, the trio has arrived at a distinctly unique musical idiom. This spring, Dim Gray are finally set to release their debut album: Flown is a 52 minute post-progressive journey, a concept album in which the songs intertwine to form more than the sum of their parts.
