Irina makes indie art films confronting fact with animation, history with poetry. Her films have played at more than 120 festivals, incl. DOC NYC, Ann Arbor, Black Maria, STARZ Denver, Palm Springs, Silver Lake, San Francisco Indie, Hot Springs and many others. Her work has been supported by fellowships from William J. Fulbright program; grants from New York State Council of the Arts, Tow, Blaustein, Troy, New York Foundation for the Arts and Jerome Foundation; as well as residencies at MacDowell, Millay and Obermann Center. Irina is a Professor of Film & Media Arts at Brooklyn College/ CUNY. She is a currently working on the documentary film opera “Iphigenia: The Story of the First Refugee” about women’s experience of war, play by Lisa Schlesinger, music by Kinan Azmeh and directed by Marion Schoevaert.
