“How does it get this bad?”
A question I am asked often when I show my messy house. And I could give you several reasons that you may find acceptable
“We were busy”, “I was sick”, “my mental health is bad”
Responses that people accept as good enough reason why my house was a mess.
But the secret is- none of that was true. We just didn’t clean. We played with our kids. We didn’t do dishes or clean as we went. We didn’t make our kids pick up their messes. In fact at one point we just straight up left and went to Chuck E Cheese and had a ball.
Everyone has different priorities- skill sets- resources
But what people who link their worth to how clean their house is do not want to admit how little it all matters.
How a messy house does not mean you are lazy and a clean house does not mean you are hardworking. It doesn’t actually tell you much about the person at all.
I’m proud of myself, and my house, in all its different stages.

A mom bod
My body shouldn’t be reduced to one thing it’s done. Though amazing. Growing and nourishing life- it’s done so much more. It’s trained and ran a 5k. It’s carried me through 11,293 days of life.
It hugs. It gives handshakes that men comment on- shocked at their firmness. It comforts.
It dances, poorly at every wedding it attends
It speaks proudly and loudly and encourages with kind words
And it will so much more in it’s time ❤️
