UPDATE: due to busy personal life, my Best Of 2024 list will just be a text post on here and on FB. Maybe next year I’ll do a video, but that stuff takes time and I really need to cut out time for stuff like that. Either way, stay tuned later this week.

OK, decided to post my Worst of 2024 list here from FB to give you an idea what my film options are like and prep for my Top 15 Best of List. This year was an AMAZING year for releases, but we still had plenty of bad movies. Here's my Top 5 Worst Movies of 2024:

NOTE: This is just my opinion, you’re free to agree or disagree with me. Not worth harassing me over.

5. Civil War- I KNOW so many people liked this one but I'm sorry, the damn thing didn't know what to say. You can't take a sensitive topic like America getting themselves into a modern second Civil War and try to be neutral on it. And during a year THIS politically volatile! Alex Garland is usually a far better writer than this (and he's British, so why the hell is a British writer-director trying to comment on American politics?), but between this and Men, I fear he's losing his touch. Hopefully, 28 Weeks Later is better than this Oscar-bait junk (PLEASE don't let this be nominated next month). Far more effort was put into marketing this movie than actually writing it IMO.

4. Trap- This was utterly disappointing. M. Night had a unique idea for a premise (a serial killer lurking at a pop concert that's meant to be a trap for them)......but there's no real catch to it. Having Josh Hartnet be the killer and having us know that from the get-go was a mistake. I know the twist this time was supposed to be "who ratted him out to the cops" but that was a lazy idea as well. A better twist would be that Hartnet ISN'T the killer after all, but a cop or police detective who's hunting down the real killer in secret! But nope. Yet again, a creative director phoning it in. How is it his daughter had the better movie this year?

3. Rebel Moon Parts 1 and 2 (BOTH CUTS)- I know Part 1 is technically a 2023 movie, but Part 2 and the director's cuts for both came out simultaneously this year so I'm counting both movies as this year. But either way.......Jesus CHRIST has Zack Snyder disappeared up his own ass. This was originally a Seven Samurai-inspired Star Wars film Zack pitched to Lucasfilm, who promptly turned him down (gee, I wonder why?). So he retooled it into this as his way of going "FINE! I'm gonna make my OWN Star Wars! With blackjack! And hookers! And excessive slow-mo!" And BOY, does he clearly not know how to structure this shit. It's a dull, dreary, grey, over-stylized mess with bland characters (aside from the robots voiced by Anthony Hopkins) that should've just been one damn movie. Even worse, Part 2 ends on an attempted sequel hook despite no assurances that any sequels are coming (and they aren't, Netflix kicked this to the curb after Part 2 and the DCs were out.) The DCs are worse. It's just the same movies with a few minor plot tidbits put back in, but BLOATED TO HELL with needlessly-added gore and sex scenes. This is absolutely the worst Zack Snyder's been in a while and somebody NEEDS to put him on a creative leash going forward.

2. Spellbound- I talked about this movie previously elsewhere, so I'll keep it short. This is easily the most insulting animated movie I've seen in a long time. A movie made to cash in on Disney's recent successes with musicals, it's a mess with cheap animation, a story that starts off IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CONFLICT for the lols, tries most of its runtime to be wacky with bad humor only to throw in an INSULTINGLY-STUPID reveal as a plot twist and follows it up with one of the worst excuses for an attempted emotional ending I've ever seen by trying to rip off the end of Ms. Doubfire without any of the nuance. But then again what do I expect from the co-director of Shark Tale, who hasn't directed anything between then and now, and the writers of the Mulan remake? On top of that, the songs are clunky and awkward despite Alan Menkin trying his damnedest with the material. The ONLY good thing about it is the voice acting, as the cast is TRYING to make the crummy script work. Overall, this is probably the angriest an animated movie has made me since Wonder Park and it's not dissimilar with it's TERRIBLE morals.

1. (tie) Madame Web and Borderlands- FUCK AVI ARAD. I'm sick of this motherfucker's shit. Everyone has said plenty about Madame Web (cheaply made, plot re-writes that pissed off the actors, laughably bad dialogue, avoiding any mention of Peter Parker or Spider-Man due to not figuring which one it would be), so let's talk Borderlads, shall we? What should have been a slam-dunk and no-brainer of an adaptation got wrecked by a script that was written by people who CLEARLY never played the games, miss-castings up the ass (Cate Blanchette and Jamie Lee Curtis playing characters they're too old to fit for), Tiny Tina acting too casual and normal for her character, really bad and out of place toilet humor (as seen in the trailer), and plot points that are NOTHING like the games and one getting to be proven false in the end. And the worst part? THIS WAS FILMED THREE FUCKING YEARS AGO. It was so bad that Eli Roth, despite still being credited as director and co-writer, disowned the movie jumped ship to make Thanksgiving, a much better movie, instead. Good for him! He saw sense and left. But yeah, between these and Venom 3 and Kraven not being well-received, I'm glad to see I'm not alone in rejecting Avi Arad's bullshit. With the stupid-ass "spin-off verse" confirmed dead last week and rumors now going around that Sony Pictures might FINALLY be planning to give Marvel Studios the Spider-Man rights back after Beyond the Spider-Verse, I'm not gonna miss this guy's abuse of the Spider-Man property.

Before anyone tells me, yes, I'm well aware Zaid Magenta has returned to Youtube under the name Diaz Station. I'm not going to be making a video on it and I've already blocked his channel on here and his BlueSky page.

At this point, the asshole just wants attention. The best thing we can do is ignore him. DO NOT go to his channel and harass him for ANY reason. That's the kind of shit he pulls and I say it's not worth getting any more heat. Let the motherfucker stew in his own piss. My part in all of this, hopefully, is over. I want to move on.'

On a better note, Animated Disney Villains ranked video, yay or nay?

Officially left Twitter and deleted my account there. I'm not marching to the Muskrat's fife.

Hence my new profile is on BlueSky at the new link above.

Let the domino effect commence. If this doesn't start Lilly's downfall, I don't know what will at this point.

But anyway, just want to ask: how would you guys feel about me doing a "Scariest Nostalgic Moments" vid next year?
