Nora Ames has become a very polarizing figure in the ex-Scientology world. If the aim of ex-Scientologists is to get people out of the CoS, keep people from joining the CoS, and to ultimately destroy the CoS, or at least have the tax-exempt status revoked, are the recent (last year) actions of various ex-Scientologists really working to achieve those aims? Or are their online and offline behaviors and actions actually just serving to create chaos in the community, which simply serves to help the CoS? So, is Nora Ames helping to destroy the CoS?

Who is most responsible for the current Los Angeles Fires? from Wikipedia: From January 7, 2025, an ongoing series of catastrophic wildfires have affected the Los Angeles metropolitan area and surrounding regions. The fires have been exacerbated by drought conditions, low humidity, and hurricane-force Santa Ana winds, which in some places have reached 100 miles per hour (160 km/h; 45 m/s). As of January 13, 2025, the wildfires have killed at least 24 people, forced nearly 180,000 to evacuate, and destroyed or damaged more than 12,401 structures. Most of the damage has been done by the two largest fires: the Palisades Fire in Pacific Palisades, and the Eaton Fire in Altadena. They are likely the second and fourth most destructive fires in California's history respectively, according to Cal Fire.

From Wikipedia: Michael John Rinder (April 10, 1955 – January 5, 2025) was an Australian-American senior executive of the Church of Scientology International (CSI) and the Sea Organization based in the United States. From 1982 to 2007, Rinder served on the board of directors of CSI and also held the post of executive director of its Office of Special Affairs, overseeing the corporate, legal and public relations matters of Scientology at the international level.

Rinder left Scientology in 2007. Ever since then, he had spoken about the physical and mental abuse inflicted upon staff members by Chairman of Scientology, David Miscavige, and by Rinder himself before his departure from the organization, and has explained how abuse was embedded into the culture of Scientology. From 2016 to 2019, he co-hosted the Emmy Award-winning A&E documentary series Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath. In 2020, he and Remini reunited to launch the podcast Scientology: Fair Game. In September 2022, he published a memoir titled A Billion Years: My Escape From a Life in the Highest Ranks of Scientology.

Do you think President Joe Biden should have pardoned his son Hunter before leaving office? For background (from Wikipedia): (Hunter) Biden was convicted of three federal firearms-related felony charges in June 2024 after he had admitted to illegally owning a gun while a drug user. Biden's tax affairs have been under federal criminal investigation since late 2018, and in September 2024, Biden pled guilty to all of the tax charges. In December 2024, his father pardoned him for all federal offenses committed between 2014 and 2024.

Many in the ex-Scientology community are working towards trying to get the United States government to revoke the Church of Scientology’s tax exempt status. I believe that this is a tricky situation because American governments generally do not want to be seen doing anything That appears to be an attack on religion in general or specific religious institutions. What government bureaucrat wants to say: no tax exempt status to Scientology because they're bad, and no to the LDS church because they already have too much money that they don't spend on charity, and no to the Catholic Church because of past and current abuses, but yes to everyone else? What are your thoughts on tax exempt status for churches?
