Pianist and Chillstep artist from the forests of Sweden. Krisu (formerly Killigrew) started composing songs in 2009 and by 2013 he carefully crafted his first Chillstep albums Sweet Solitude and Animus which received millions of streams around the world. His early albums are inspired by Blackmill and together they collaborated on Ascension in 2020 which was a dream come true. Focusing on music inspired by nature, his own quest for spirituality and finding purpose the songs are highly melodic and often melancholic. Welcome to the ethereal realm of Krisu.

In April I had the pleasure of showing Chillstep fan and British filmmaker Alex Thaxton around Ulricehamn where I grew up and talk about what inspired my Chillstep journey since 2012. Excuse my hands, I was painting a lot of artworks by hand in spring with a dye that doesn't come off so easily.

I came up with the idea for my song "I Have Chosen to Dwell in a Place You Cannot See" while Alex was filming and capturing the songwriting process. How neat is that? I hope you enjoy this little film.

I'm currently going through a lot of hardship. But I'm also excited about the future and my new songs. I've been writing some of my best melodies ever lately on my piano. Making music is where the real happiness exists for me.

I recently found out a viral song with 25+ million streams is a stolen piano song of mine (My Beloved, from 2011). Sadly I probably won't see a cent from that. I'm currently struggling a lot financially so I'm looking for part-time jobs this autumn. Imagine if I would recieve my share from that viral song? Yeah, doesn't seem fair.

I've experienced the biggest drop of listeners on Spotify even though 2023 started with peaking 122.000 monthly listeners. Spotify introduced a lot of new algorithms and my artist page just crashed. I don't really understand why but I'm trying to grow it back one beautiful song at a time.

I hope you all are in good health and that you've been enjoying the new songs.

Sweet Solitude, which was my "breakout" Chillstep song in 2013 is almost at 3 million streams.

Sweet Solitude and Coming Home a few months later became two of the most streamed Chillstep songs in the world between 2013-2016. I can only look back at that time through a nostalgic lense and feel a deep sense of gratitude. But the journey is far from over.

Music has always been about my love for nature and the unknown mysteries in the universe.

Sincerely,
Chris / Krisu

I'm looking for more music production gigs this summer! From small to big - I love making melodic and memorable songs πŸ™‚

You can check out my 10+ year discography on my Bandcamp below.

Prices from last year looked like this:

Original song: ~500 USD (I really put my heart into these songs)

Original piano song: ~200 USD (something gentle and sweet)

You can check out "Krisu - Oxygen for a Dying World". I made that song and 3 others for a mobile game with millions of downloads.

License an older song of mine: 150 USD

I never really advertise my bandcamp. But in case you didn't know! πŸ™‚

You can get all my 15 albums in one discography bundle for a fraction of the price and also get all future songs for free as I keep updating the bundle.

But I ALWAYS keep my albums available for free as well if you type "0" on any single album on my page.

In a world where streaming is the norm buying albums seems like a thing of the past. But one album purchase is literally worth thousands of streams. I do not take that support for granted.

My new song is almost done and will be released before Christmas ❀

UPDATE! πŸ’š

It's time. I haven't released any proper albums since New Nostalgia in 2020. But I have released a lot of songs so I have divided it up in one piano album and one huge melodic dubstep album. I must be crazy to make melodic dubstep in 2023 when it's more or less a forgotten genre. But I had to follow my heart and it's been fun. You can expect these albums shortly.

Now I want to start a new chapter and my heart is telling me to slow down and write more instrumental and emotional music. I started something on the piano yesterday which truly resonated with me. My gut instinct is telling me this will be an important song to me.

UPDATE!

I'm finally moving back to my hometown by the end of October to be close to family. The apartment is a huge step up and I'm investing in new studio equipment and PC for the first time in 4 years.

I have already decided the name for my upcoming album and I think you will love it. It feels rather unique to me.

Many of the songs will be remastered versions of my favorite and deepest songs as of the past year with a bunch of brand new ones as well. Because of the move I will not be able to start working on the new songs for a while. But I wrote the demos a few months ago and the melodies are beautiful and epic.

I'm thinking for the first time I will also release an instrumental version alongside the official one. Is this something you would like?

I'm pretty excited about starting a new life in November and diving into this project!

Have a nice day music lovers and all the stargazers out there!

I'm finally back to music full-time! Trying something new with the next couple of songs. This one will be on Spotify this coming friday March 24th ❀

As some of you may know I've put myself through hell in the gym in the last 3 years and the transformation has been colossal on every level. I genuinely feel like I've swapped to a completely new body and a stronger mind. That's partly the reason for changing my artist name from Killigrew to Krisu. A rebirth. if you will. A mindset shift.

I recently discovered the genre known as Phonk and for the first since Chillstep over a decade ago I fell in love with a new genre...

So here is a theme song for everyone trying to create a better life for themselves and my very first Phonk song with melodic touch of Chillstep and oriental instruments.

I sincerely hope you enjoy and if you do please consider sharing it with a friend!

It would be cool to see this song in AMV's and other epic videos :)

Please feel free to follow me on Instagram! I post both music and my gym progress there :)

I just shared a new piano part that might be one of my most beautiful songs yet! This song is more than a year in the making since the first iteration. It could very well be the highlight of the next chillstep album!
