Hello, everyone. Jason here.
I'd like to announce that I am retiring from my position as the admin of this channel, and relinquishing my responsibility to Henning.
The reason I am doing this is because I no longer feel comfortable or welcome in this community.
Over the last decade, ramping up especially in the last few years, I have noticed that there has grown to be far more blind hate and cynicism than love and tolerance within the community, and I have received from within it an inordinate amount of toxicity, discrimination, and harassment for extremely negligible reasons. One moderator in particular has given me the absolute worst of it in recent times—it has overall been nothing but a perpetual clash of ideals. I'm not at all selling short the eggregiousness of my own social conduct (I'm done trying to control what I am), but after so many times of this happening, it truly seems that everyone has already made up their minds that I'm a horrible person, and all the mods are princesses who can do no wrong ever. The game has been rigged against me for years, and there's nothing I can do to turn it around. I have tried to apologize and appeal and plead and reason with Tyler about these legitimate issues, but was met entirely with silence.
I have learned far too late in this journey that I am not the same person I was a decade ago when I first came into this space, and subsequent communities elsewhere. I have changed and evolved, in better ways and worse ways. This community has sparked a downward spiral that has done things to my evolving brain, including damaging my social abilities, perhaps beyond any short-term repair. At one point, I even considered nuking this channel purely out of spite and the sense of control—that's just how much my mental health has been damaged from this situation.
So that's why I'm leaving. Aside from the once-a-year VOTC event, I truly have no cares about and ought to have nothing at all to do with this community. I cannot continue to have any more of this kind of contact with this community, if for no reason other than my own health. I am a real person with a complicated life just like everyone else, and there has been a massive lack of the respect, freedom of expression, and forgiveness that I equally deserve.
I will still attempt to continue to enjoy the music, and I would like to continue to contribute to the VOTC should Tyler find it in his heart to allow it, but I am otherwise cutting this toxicity out of my life and moving on. Hopefully then we can all become better people because of this.
