Welcome back, please enjoy a bunch of new content! While moving locations, a large cache of 1995-2006 material was uncovered in an unsorted intake box. A few samples from this are being uploaded now as well as a "mix tape" of Challenger disaster footage that was mislabeled. Keep the comments coming and thank you for your support.
Quick update from TheTVMadman HQ as we prepare to move our facility! Things have been placed on hold (as they have been for about the last 30 days) but we hope to be back soon. Thanks for the support!
Greetings from TheTVMadman Land! Summer vacation is just about over, which means plenty of new material in the coming months! Local estate sales have yielded no shortage of Portland, OR 1995/96 flood coverage, and from personal archives many more treats from 80s and 90s Milwaukee and Minneapolis material! Thanks for watching as always, and stay tuned!
Occasionally people write to ask where to find tapes of their own. I usually advise to shop flea markets and secondhand stores - but also do not ignore what might be in your own neighborhood! While out for a stroll the other day I passed by an estate sale. Under a table in the garage was this small cache of tapes with no price. I offered them a couple bucks for them and they looked relieved that somebody actually wanted them.
Happy hunting! Most of all, have fun!
FYI, the very fancy Fuji tapes were not actually in those cases! Other tapes, but sadly not those specific tapes.
Multiple news organizations whose archival material passes through TheTVMadman have reached out to me to let me know they have hired media rights management companies to handle copyright administration for their stations.
What this means: Stations like KGW 8 in Portland OR, KARE-11 in Minneapolis MN and WTMJ-4 in Milwaukee WI have been digitizing their archives! These digital files are sent to their rights administrator for YouTube (and other platforms) copyright "fingerprinting." I have had multiple copyright notices on videos that match these "fingerprints" in recent times. These are not copyright STRIKES - however the future of uploading archival local news at TheTVMadman could slow for some call letters if anything ever becomes a hard STRIKE.
Ultimately, this is an amazing development and I am actually very pleased to share the information that local stations are addressing their archives - potentially modernizing and making available hundreds of thousands of hours of video in the future!
Have been reaching in to a cache of previously damaged or broken tapes lately to repair. The results will be posted soon - some very interesting bits and pieces from the middle-eighties! Thanks for watching!
Hey, thanks for 10,000 subscribers! We reached the number today and are totally blown away. Some new material is passing through the decks right now, as well as a re-launch of the live Weatherstar 4000 coming soon (with an added interactive element to be announced!) I want to again thank all subscribers for your continued support! Stay tuned!

Was recently contacted about supplying material for a music video - really dig the end result, and hope you will too!
