📈 Inflation and price hikes surrounding all aspects of pet care. In 2024, the cost of pet care has surged across the board, primarily due to inflation, supply chain issues, and increased demand. Dog grooming, along with pet food, vet services, and boarding, has experienced significant price hikes, though with some variations.
⚕️Vet Care: Veterinary costs have seen the largest increase, rising by approximately 7.1% in 2023 alone, with a 29.5% increase since 2021. This jump is driven by rising costs for surgical supplies, medications, and staffing within clinics. These increases make veterinary care the most significant ongoing expense for pet owners.
🧆Pet Food: The cost of pet food rose by about 22.5% between 2021 and 2024. However, recent trends suggest this may be stabilizing, with a minor decrease (0.1%) from 2023 to 2024. Pet food remains one of the largest ongoing costs, accounting for around $349 annually per dog in the U.S.
✂️Pet Grooming and Services: Pet grooming and other services like training and boarding have also increased, with an estimated 17.8% rise over the last three years. Grooming frequency and maintenance play a role in how much pet owners spend, but even routine grooming can add significantly to the overall cost of pet ownership, especially in urban areas where prices are higher.
🐶Pet Boarding: Boarding costs have increased due to staffing shortages and facility costs, making it an area of significant expense for pet parents who travel frequently. However, the rate of increase here has been steadier than in vet care or grooming.
✅Despite rising costs, regular grooming should still be a priority for pet health. Neglecting grooming can lead to skin infections, matting, and discomfort, which may necessitate expensive treatments or emergency veterinary care later. Maintaining a pet’s grooming routine ultimately helps avoid these preventable health issues, supporting overall wellness and quality of life.
🎙️Let's have a conversation here in the comments section. 💰 What costs have you cut to continue to provide quality care for your pets?

⭐️Product of the week! Fall and winter bring moisture, which can cause a dog's coat to tangle more easily. This requires more brushing and using products that add hydration and protection to your dog's coat during brushout.
My favorite brushout spray is Quicker Slicker made by nature's specialties and a good slicker brush to gently remove dead hair leaving only healthy coat.

✂️Stay Organized for Maximum Efficiency- ⭐️Product of the week
Time is precious, and the best way to save it is by staying organized. Maintaining a clean and clutter-free workspace allows you to focus on the dog in front of you, instead of searching for tools or cleaning up distractions. Make it a habit to keep your most frequently used items close to your workspace.

When grooming, your clippers, scissors, combs, sprays, and brushes should always be within arm's reach.
Additionally, organize each session ahead of time. This means knowing which products and tools you’ll need before the dog arrives and having them ready. By anticipating what you need, you’ll minimize downtime and keep the momentum going.
Organization is often overlooked but game-changing if you implement it into your daily operations and procedures.
This all-inclusive rolling cart is a great option to set your grooms up for success having all the tools you need at your fingertips.
You can use rolling carts to pre-stock your tools for each groom keeping you moving and prepared throughout each grooming session.
