Established in 1991, Shegoband has performed in many countries in Europe and North America. Notably, in 2005, the group toured the United States of America and promoted Somali culture and music to school children and on stage to non-Somalis. Also in 2005, Shegoband was sponsored by the BBC world service to perform in Cardiff, England.
