It is a file sharing service like google drive or drop box. I use ftp service in office, if someone wants to send data online, we use ftp server. I am using filezilla ftp server software which is free utility available on official website. I have discussed about ftp user, share folder & ftp permission. I have public ip address which is purchased from ISP. We can access files & folder online with the help of public ip address so I have done port forwarding in router also I have open ftp ports in windows firewall. Ftp service use two channel, command channel (use port no. 21) & data channel (use custom port range). I have allowed port 21 & port range like 5000-5100 in router as well as in windows firewall. But remember we have to use custom port range in filezilla. If you want to use ftp server on same network or lan network we do not need to open port range only we have to allow port 21,20 in windows firewall.
