As-salamu-alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu dear visitor.
These videos is an effort to document and propagate knowledge of Egypt’s past great men and women from the Prophets, Sahaba, Tabi'un, Ahl-ul Bayt, Scholars and Saints, in the English language.
A prophet is a person chosen by Allah for the reformation and guidance of mankind. The Holy Qur'an uses two Arabic words for a prophet: Rasool and Nabi.
The Sahaba are the companions of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, while the Tabi'un are the generation of Muslims who followed them:
Sahaba
A Sahabi is someone who met or saw the Prophet Muhammad, believed in him, and died as a Muslim. The companions played a vital role in the spread and preservation of Islam.
Tabi'un
The Tabi'un, also known as the "followers" or "successors", were the generation of Muslims who came after the Sahaba and learned the Prophet's teachings secondhand. A Tabi'i was someone who met with a Sahabi and spent time with them.
We hope they are an inspiration and encourage you to visit them, honor them and seek Allah subhana wa ta’ala’s blessings by doing so.
Egypt’s special place among nations is confirmed by Allah ta’ala mentioning it and the river Nile in the Glorious Qur’an:
“We inspired Moses and his brother with this Message: “Provide dwellings for your people in Egypt, make your dwellings into places of worship, and establish regular prayers: and give glad tidings to those who believe!”
“Then when they entered the presence of Joseph, he provided a home for his parents with himself, and said: “Enter ye Egypt (all) in safety if it please Allah.”
“‘Throw (the child) into the chest, and throw (the chest) into the river (Nile): the river will cast him up on the bank, and he will be taken up by one who is an enemy to Me and an enemy to him’: But I cast (the garment of) love over thee from Me: and (this) in order that thou mayest be reared under Mine eye.”
Our beloved Prophet ﷺ also mentioned the Nile in this segment of a beautiful Hadith in Sahih Muslim, Chapter 1, Faith (Kitab Al Iman), Hadith 314, Narrated by Sayyidina Anas bin Malik:
“On the authority of Malik b. Sasa’, perhaps a person of his tribe, that the Prophet of Allah ﷺ said: …He (the narrator) narrated in this hadith that the Prophet of Allah ﷺ told that he saw four rivers which flowed from (the root of the lote-tree of the farthest limits): two manifest rivers and two hidden rivers. I said: ‘ Gabriel! what are these rivers? He replied: The two hidden rivers are the rivers of Paradise, and as regards the two manifest ones, they are the Nile and the Euphrates…”
Egypt also hosted several great prophets including Sayyidina Ibrahim, Sayyidina Musa, Sayyidina Yusuf, and Sayyidina Haroon. Some also say that Sayyidina ‘Isa and Sayyida Mariam passed through Egypt, peace be upon them all.
Of course, there are several Sahaba buried around Egypt as well as many members of the Prophet’s ﷺ Ahl-ul Bayt. In fact, outside of Jannat al-Baqi’ in Medina, Egypt is the place with the most Ahl-ul Bayt buried.
