Noam Chomsky: A Life in Talk - Every Interview, Lecture, Doc & Debate

1. Feature Documentaries, and Clip Compilations (12 videos) 2. Linguistics-Themed Interviews & Lectures (over 35 videos) 3. Lectures (often with Q&As) (over 225 videos (150 lectures)) 4. Interviews and Debates (over 470 videos) This is for anyone who, like me, has been trying to see everything Chomsky since the dawn of YouTube. You might often find yourself halfway into a speech already before realizing you've seen it before (and, I now realize, YouTube was not connecting me to dozens of major speeches from across the decades). Now you can see everything in chronological order. (I've only devoted a couple afternoons to this so far, so the list is likely incomplete right now. I've only omitted things to save on repetition.) I partially used chomsky.info/audionvideo/ to see how well I was doing at finding everything, though I should note that a lot of their hyperlinks are deadlinks, so I've mainly used YouTube for the actual compiling of clips. It did seem necessary to me to separate out the interviews from the speeches, from the documentaries and clip reels, which are different enough in nature that it's probably worth being able to watch through them each in isolation. Otherwise, what this playlist attempts to simulate is the ability to experience and track the evolution and accumulation of Noam's singular vision of the world across his life. I should give a special shout out to Democracy Now! and Amy Goodman for having generated roughly a third of the interview clips. There are also a good handful of YouTubers devoted to trying to isolate powerful, short segments of thought from Noam's larger speeches and interviews. For the most part, I didn't think it was necessary to replicate the work of these folks, by pairing these clips with the larger speeches they come from. Nevertheless, they are useful resources for tracking the focused-on subjects and ideas, if you're looking for faster access to isolated viewpoints. They also compile talks others have given about Noam, which are often good, but which I've avoided for obvious reasons. youtube.com/c/ManufacturingIntellect/playlists youtube.com/user/chomskysphilosophy/playlists youtube.com/c/FreeWill-library/playlists youtube.com/channel/UCOu-iolqof3Vpaef06k9Nqg/playl…
