Cruise Power: Slide Walks

Part of the Cruise Power longboard project. Slide Walks are routines for long skateboard combining footwork and slides. Most slides are in the narrow stance. All directions are used, front, back, switch, and fakey. Footwork can be cross steps, switch cross steps, back pedals, and other walk variations, The routines tend to cover a lot of ground, since board continues skating as maneuvers are linked. Some pushes or pumps may be needed between maneuvers to build up speed. Cruise Power and Slide Walks is a project that drew on skateboard material I had designed and mastered previously. I practiced for several months before documenting it with video. There were few mistakes and almost every take is shown here. A couple of the clips are broken down frame by frame on the Cruise Power project page: www.inch.com/~joso/skate/cruispwr/cruise_pwr.html For source material I took moves from Slide Arc-itecture, Walk Chains, and Waves routines. These moves are documented on my Surface Motion web pages. This project is a fairly high technical level. The big board makes slides harder, although it makes walking easier. It helps to use a board of at least 50 inches so there's plenty of room to take two steps comfortably. Practice slides on a board of 46 inches or so. Try to work on my source maneuvers individually before combining this way. Be sure to practice switch stance as board is continually spun in 180s.
