Both have their flaws, true, but I think as Pokemon games they’re really good. After SwSh’s story, I didn’t expect to feel as scared as when I fought Volo or as emotionally attached to S/V’s characters

It kinda makes me happy how split this poll seems to be. Each game kind of has their own unique flavor going on despite both having the main open world selling point, so there's generally something for everyone to enjoy between both.

I actually really like both, but PLA just feels so special in a way I can’t quite put my finger on. The characters are great, the story is actually pretty deep for a Pokémon game if you dig into all the lore, and the new ways of traversing the world and battle mechanics are a breath of fresh air. It’s the only Pokémon game I’ve felt the urge to 100% in nearly a decade. Love it

Honestly while I enjoy S/V a lot PLA just feels more fun to explore especially with the research feature which really amps up the completionist in me

My last Pokémon game was Alpha Sapphire way back in 2014. However, PLA’s new catching mechanics were exciting enough for me to give it a shot. Long story short it was my most satisfying Pokémon experience since White 2

It’s really hard to choose! But SV really went above and beyond imo in terms of story and open exploration. Arceus is like RIGHT below it I had so muchhhhh fun with both of them!

i think if ScarVi hadn’t had the technical problems i’d pick that one. my experience with it wasn’t even bad i just think it’s hard calling it the best pkmn game when so many people felt they couldn’t even finish it because of the tech issues :( (but for real i’d highly recommend picking it up again if you stopped. it’s one of the best stories pokemon’s done in ages :) )

both are amazing regardless of their flaws and I thoroughly enjoy both 😤

Legends Arceus was a little barren, but it had a certain something that Scarlet/Violet didn't. There was a richer quality to its world and a more subtle tone.

I don’t know how anyone can say Arceus is bad. It’s just… got so much. From the lore to the new ways of traversing the land, to the new and tricky/clever ways to catch Pokémon, to Alphas… not to mention, one of the most shafted (and probably most important, being that it’s God) Mythicals of all time FINALLY got its time - I just don’t know how this doesn’t make just about every Pokémon fan happy. It ranks right up there with HG/SS and BW/BW2 for me! Haven’t played a ton of S/V yet, but enjoyed what I have played of Violet.

PLA was just more fun to play to me. The camera control and the fact that you can walk around during battle and get his by moves makes it really special and I miss that when playing Scarlet. I also think the style of the world in PLA looks better (altough unpolished), and it isn’t as overcrowded with pokemon as I think the newer games are. The story was better in the newer games though! I love all the characters too.

My vote goes to Scarlet/Violet. I loved play through Arceus but I don't find myself wanting to pick it up again after finishing the post-game. The fact that I have to catch every pokemon to beat the game was a great experience, but I don't find that I want to continue doing that or that I have any reason to keep playing after having caught every pokemon. Sure there's shiny hunting, but that's not what I want to play these games for. I'm still playing through Scarlet even after I've beaten the post-game. And part of the reason why is that I feel there's still more for me to discover. I haven't caught all the pokemon in Scarlet and I likely won't, but the raid dens provide a nice variety and incentive to keep playing.

Arceus with traditional trainer battles would’ve made it the best game.

First time I actually played through both versions of a Pokemon game. Enjoyed every second of it.

Volo stands out to me because had me going “no no no wait wait, second phase?!?”

Tough choice, but despite the bugs and glitches S/V is one of (if not) the best pokemon games I've ever played.

even leaving out SV's dysfunctions, i think i still like Legends better. the scenario, the setting, the mechanics, and the new pokemon all appealed to me, and while i didn't love the clothing options they're better than being stuck with a school uniform forever

Besides the graphics I think Scarlet and Violet are really good games the story is cool and goes pretty deep with pokemon and just the whole thing is so awesome to experience
