Won’t be able to make any more DWCS videos this week, airport is not going as smooth as planned. I apologize for not getting more content out throughout this week. With that said, I’ll be doing mini breakdowns of each fight I didn’t cover below:
Corinne Laframboise 🇨🇦 vs. Nicole Caliari 🇧🇷
Laframboise hasn’t fought since March of 2022 and is 8-4 overall. However, she has some solid wins on her record and has won five of her last six with the only loss coming to Manon Fiorot. Barring ring rust, she could surprise. Caliari is quite an unknown with not much footage out there but losses to two UFC veterans. Her level of competition is questionable and overall she is hard to trust here. I’ll stick with the girl I can trust a bit more in Laframboise, but this is a crap shoot.

Kody Steele 🇺🇸 vs. Quemel Ottoni 🇧🇷
Now this one is fun. Steele comes into the fight with a 6-0 record as one of the highest regarded prospects in the US. Steele’s ability to mix his game and break opponents down while growing fight to fight has been awesome to watch. Legit BJJ Black Belt and some serious potential with his striking coming into his own lately. Ottoni was the Jungle Fight WW Champion and famously holds a win over Alex Pereira. Ottoni has great jiu-jitsu and improving striking, however, he’s fought just once since the start of 2022. I think both of these guys will transition to 170 at some point if either makes the UFC, both massive for 155. Ottoni’s inactivity will be the main reason I side with Steele in this fight, but it’s also possible that Ottoni will be too much for Steele this early in his career. I’ll go with the prospect who has a higher ceiling and pick Kody Steele to get the job done later in the fight.

Yousri Belgaroui vs. Taiga Iwasaki
Finishing off with an intriguing middleweight matchup, Belgaroui is the only returning fighter on the card. After a tough loss on DWCS last year, Belgaroui won the LFL Light Heavyweight Championship and seemed to be back to himself. With the kickboxing background he has and now training with former opponent Alex Pereira’s, Belgaroui looks to storm the UFC’s MW division in similar fashion to his teammate. Iwasaki is a slippery striker that possesses some solid grappling. His grappling defense is weaker but his well-rounded style has worked for him. Iwasaki definitely still has some growing to do as a fighter and has fought very poor competition to this point. I think Belgaroui gets his hand raised as he is more complete and UFC ready at this point but that Iwasaki suprises and pushes him to the distance.
