Sometimes I put the 9’ tree up and all the decorations, sometimes I only put the 3’ tree up, sometimes I only put tinsel on the mantle, and this year I’m not decorating at all. You do you and whatever feels right that year!

The canine quartet just want happy, stress free pawrents. P.S. Regarding coming back to BG when you have something to say .... you have ten years' worth of stuff already said! An abundance! No one would be mad at a "Best of" compilation, etc. Dunno if that takes a lot of time to edit that together, if so - no worries! You deserve credit for the ten years' of your life that you've poured into the channel, I know your bandwidth is full with other things so an outside editor may be able to put a 10-year retrospective together. But if that's not something that sparks joy for you, no worries, we're grateful for the video library 'as is'. (BTW I know that 'sparks joy' is totally overused I'm just too brain dead at the moment to think of another phrase. You get the gist).

It’s great to get an update and yes some seasons you just need to pull back and determine what is most important and regroup, recharge and find your peace. You are amazing !

Visiting my sister in San Antonio, so also grateful to be free of Christmas decorating. Think that I will go and see the lights along the Riverwalk tonight, hopefully with no crowds. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

I took a break this year from Xmas decorating too. Wanted the rest and peace more, no regrets.

I’m the same as you. I “decorated” but didn’t put up a tree either which is such a relief not having to take it all down. Your house looks beautiful anyway!

Merry Christmas, enjoy your rest, Jacob and the puppers. You never have to explain why Christmas looks different. If this isn't the year for decorations then maybe next year. 😃

I love this and I totally agree with you! As my kids get older they don’t really care as much of what I put up for Christmas! So I just put a Christmas tree up with lights, with some gifts under it. Merry Christmas to you both xo

I feel the same way this year.. I'm drained. I decided to prioritize my mental health. I do have kids, so this year, I decorated very, very minimal ( Scandinavian minimal), and it feels very liberating.

I didn't decorate this year either. We are getting ready to sell our home next year and have been busy. I have 2 decorations up. Your home is so beautiful ❤️

Sometimes you just go and enjoy other people's decorations. There are plenty of city sponsored events, or hotels or theme parks that do things large or small that you can enjoy without having to do it yourself.

I'm doing the opposite from you and going all out as my family have travelled across the country to spend Christmas with us. Merry Christmas to you both and a wonderful 2025.❤️❤️🎁

Budget Girl
I didn’t decorate for Christmas this year. Every time a rare, free moment came up, I just didn’t feel like it and chose to rest or do other things instead. I’ve been exhausted. The plate has been too full this whole fourth quarter of the year/ year and BG is far to the wayside. I miss it and I’ll be back at some point when I feel like I can breathe again and have something helpful to say.
In the interim, not decorating has been a lovely thing to not have to do - or think about undoing after next week. Jacob and I don’t have kids, so we can pass on having to create magic without guilt, which is great. We’re still doing gifts for each other, and one was a little photoshoot of the dogs in a little sleigh, which we’re excited about. We’ll open gifts and do a little trip up to DFW and I’m so glad our holidays don’t have to look like any one thing to be enjoyed thoroughly.
Personal finance is personal and should be customized to what you want and need and that same theory can be applied to so many things. This year I needed rest, no pressure…and a smaller tree for the new smaller house which I’ll be on the look out for on sale before next year. Happy, restful holidays to all. Don’t let anyone, including yourself, pressure you into doing anything that won’t bring you joy. #minimalchristmas #peace
