Anyone that says they went back to work after retirement because they are bored and don’t have to work makes me want to scream

I was going to wait until I was 70, but with politics being in the toilet, I decided to get signed up at my full retirement age of 66 years & 4 months.

I plan on collecting mine at the first of next year. I want to make sure I can get it at 100%. I currently collect Survivor Benefits from my late husband and my retirement from a state job that I worked for 23 years. Not sure how much of the Survivor Benefits I'll be able to collect after that. 👀

I retired in the federal government at 56. My pension provided a supplement that stopped on my 62 birthday. I took my social security the following month. I didn’t want to leave money left on the table. I’m glad I did it, because it’s more than doubled my original supplement amount.

Unfortunately I sustained an injury that no longer allows me to work so I am on disability now and it sucks

I was deemed disabled the day before my 50th bday, so I’ve gotten that for 5 yrs now. It will allow me to live in my RV in Palm Springs for the winter at least.

I worked for the school system for 30 years and get a pension which is 60 percent of my average salary for the last 3 years plus social security. I actually make over 1200 a month more than when I worked . And the city gives me back my monthly Medicare payment every April . I’m pretty fortunate I guess . When I turned 65 my city health coverage went down to 20 percent and social is 80 .

I decided to take retirement at 62 but still work part time. I received a very small pension but with the job I was doing ok financially. When I turned 65 174.00 a month was taken out of my check for mandatory Medicare part B. Then prices started rising and I had to work a little more to make ends meet. Unfortunately I went over my earnings limit so now that is being deducted from my check also. Now I'm back to working 32 hours a week and will be going over my limit again this year. I wish I had planned better for this. My own fault but I never thought 4 years ago it would be like this now.

I had no other choice. I had to go on disability, because I became paralyzed from the neck down. I worked so hard all my life. I had to take care of my little half brother. My mom was an alcoholic. So I used to collect pop bottles and baby sit. We had no food. So my doing this we got some food! Ever since I have always worked. I would work up to 3 jobs at a time. I guess my body just got tired. I didn't want to go on disability, but my Dr said I had no choice. I slowly got my feelings back after a major operation. So I was 55.

I just turned 60 last month. I'd like to retire at 65, maybe 66. But life is unpredictable.

I'm was a teacher in Texas. I won't be able to draw but maybe 1/3 of my Social Security because Texas teachers don't pay into Social Security unless they work an outside job. I have my 40 quarters but can't draw it. Teachers here pay into an annuity account so the government passed the Windfall Profits and Government Pension Offset so they penalize us for not participating in Social Security even though we may have had outside employment. We can't draw on our spouse's SS either. It's horrible.

Started SSDI around age 40 from spinal cord injury. Worked in nursing which did my back in since as a male, I got all the heavy jobs plus one old fart at that time hit me in the back with his cane didn't help. So went back to managing a new pet shop aa my hobbies were aquariums🐠 and parrots🦜, and again had to do all the heavy work, then an auto accident, not my fault finished me off...

At what age did you start taking Social Security? OR at what age do you plan to start taking Social Security?
(I'll share the results of this Poll in an upcoming video and let you know how old we were when we started taking Social Security.)
