Why are people okay w this?? A pumped-up Floor Space Index (FSI), and a housing market on steroids – people getting one more room in their apartments - if it’s a 2 bed, you can get a 3 bed. The builders put the people in an another building for a few years while they “re develop”. Buildings that don’t even need re development are getting re developed because everyone wants more room which means the cost of the flat goes up which means more money. As a result even RENTS HAVE DOUBLED. RENT IN BANDRA FOR A 2 BED WHICH WAS 1 LAKH A MONTH IS NOW 2 LAKH A MONTH!
BMC’s approval stamp on 2,473 projects in 2021 was like hitting a jackpot – a cool Rs 15,000 crore in their pockets (not yours).
