“How does it get this bad?”

A question I am asked often when I show my messy house. And I could give you several reasons that you may find acceptable

“We were busy”, “I was sick”, “my mental health is bad”

Responses that people accept as good enough reason why my house was a mess.

But the secret is- none of that was true. We just didn’t clean. We played with our kids. We didn’t do dishes or clean as we went. We didn’t make our kids pick up their messes. In fact at one point we just straight up left and went to Chuck E Cheese and had a ball.

Everyone has different priorities- skill sets- resources

But what people who link their worth to how clean their house is do not want to admit how little it all matters.

How a messy house does not mean you are lazy and a clean house does not mean you are hardworking. It doesn’t actually tell you much about the person at all.

I’m proud of myself, and my house, in all its different stages.

My answer is always we continue to allow our child to live in the house, mess typically follows 🤣

I’m a super clean person, but I NEVER judge anyone on a messy house!!! To each their own. I like to clean every morning before work, but I do it because I enjoy it. If I don’t enjoy something… I don’t really do it. So therefore although my house is always clean, my floors are NEVER mopped. Because f*ck mopping
