Eyewitness News ABC7NY

Dick Button was more than the most accomplished men's figure skater in history. He was one of his sport's greatest innovators and promoters. Button, winner of two Olympic gold medals and five consecutive world championships, died Thursday, said his son, Edward, who did not provide a cause. He was 95.

@chorlauheung4920

He is a US Olympic Hall of Famer!! Sad to hear his passing. The ice skating community is definitely having a very difficult time with his passing and those upcoming skaters on the doomed crash yesterday night. Condolences to their families and those impacted.

He was THE analyst on figure skating coverage for ABC Sports....but actually began his TV career with CBS Sports in 1960 and 1961.

Wow 🤯 as if the figure skating community wasn’t devastated enough. Perhaps this news was too much for him. Just so sad. Rip to Dick Button and all those who lost their lives

I can’t help but chuckle at his name, but in all seriousness may he rest in peace. What a terrible loss for a week that has already been a devastating blow to the figure skating community.
