I know this dude that got sentenced to 400yrs. He said "Your Honor, I can't do 400yrs" the judge said "Do what you can"

He was sentenced in 1911, not 1926. He was eligible for parole in 1974, but wasn’t released until 1980.

He went to prison in 1911 at age 17 and was released in 1980 at age 86. In 1926 while he was already imprisoned, he was deemed legally insane.

Wait, so he was 80 when released and served 68 years?? Wouldn't that have made him 12 years old when he committed the crime?

Paul Geidel Jr. actually holds the second longest prison sentence in the United States serving 68 years, 245 days from July 1911- May 1980. Francis Clifford Smith served the longest prison sentence at 70 years, 31 days from June 1950 - July 2020.

Literally spent his whole entire life in jail! Probably had no living relatives left. I truly wonder how he lived out the rest of his life.

Wikipedia says “He is now the 2nd longest-serving inmate next to Francis Clifford Smith who survived 70 years, 31 days.”

There is a Roman record that we discussed in a college class back in the 60s of a man sentenced to 100 years as a galley rower being released at the end of that sentence (the only one known to serve his entire sentence). He was between four and six years old when sentenced for theft. I'll go with that one.

Ummm....I don't believe anything you say. The math doesn't add up at all. 48 years is a far cry from 68. These YT facts, man. lmao

One of the most striking examples of an incredibly long sentence is the case of Chamoy Thipyaso, a Thai woman who, in 1989, was sentenced to an astounding 141,078 years for corporate fraud related to a pyramid scheme, or is this question only about America?
