Hi! I’m Iggy, and I made Icebreaker for the Averokage Eurovision Mashup Contest! Everyone did amazing and all the entries deserve to win, but here are some reasons to vote for me!
1: It’s better than my first one
I have lots of regrets about the first contest, like having a glitchy and gold move-less mu at first (Mayzie Grobe), and replacing it with a short, low effort map to a song no one knows. I wish I could have done better, but I was happy with 2nd to last. This time, however, I think it looks a lot better, it has a background, the coaches were added in a creative way, and the concept is good. I think this is a huge step up from last time, and I hope you will recognize that.
2: There’s lore!!!
You read that right, I made lore for the mashup! I tried to make it reminiscent of the Showdown season, so all the coaches are either confirmed or heavily implied to be from Winterhaven (hence *Icebreaker*), and the maps that didn’t have extractions are explained in lore as having not been able to make it to the live performance, and had their majesty Averokage cast a portal for them to dance through. I think the story works well, especially for a Eurovision contest.
3: Song choice
While SHUM, Snap, or Queen Of Kings would have worked just as well for Winterhaven, Icebreaker is an underrated song that deserved better in the competition, and deserves to be in Just Dance. The tempo also fits well with most wintery maps, even with the bpm change in the chorus (which was hard to work around, yet another reason to pick me!). Overall it was really fun to make a wintery map for a song most people wouldn’t think to choose.
4: This was my second attempt!
I had tried to make this mashup once before, but it didn’t turn out nearly as good. I kept it mostly the same (remaking it from the ground up as I lost the original), but I made some adjustments that ended in it being 100 times better than the original.
