While the Roseanne video sent more hate toward me than I’ve ever received before - it was also one of the most enjoyable experiences in my career.
To the people who understood that it wasn’t to be taken too seriously…the folks who understood that it’s purpose was to light the internet on fire and have a good time - I thank you. Your smiles have and joy lit the way for what otherwise would have been a dark path.
To the people who didn’t understand this epic troll of a music video - I have a hard time believing that you have ever understood ANY of my music. Your obsessive craving to tell me how much you disliked it had the opposite effect of what you intended - you didn’t hurt anyone’s feelings. You triggered algorithms and helped this video reach millions of more people than it would have without you. I thank you for that.
No matter what happens on Billboard on Tuesday - I know we did our absolute best.
We gave Roseanne a second chance when Hollywood refused to. We rubbed a legendary victory for our country in the faces of people that treated us poorly for 4 years. We trolled the music industry and inspired thousands of headlines from some of the world’s biggest media outlets to say our names.
INDEPENDENTLY.
I never wanted to be anyone’s favorite rapper. I only wanted to give a voice to people who felt like they didn’t have one. I think we accomplished that this week.
After my Christmas song and “Daddy’s Home” with Roseanne - it’s time to get back to serious music. I can’t wait to show you what’s next…and I thank you for being loud with me for the past week.
I started this journey many years ago - by myself. Along the way, we’ve refused help from record labels, stayed away from Hollywood and remained committed to the independence that was established early in my career. Eight years into this, I’m not longer alone. I’ve looked to my girlfriend and to my family to help - and I’ve looked to all of you for support.
This is no longer MY journey. This is OUR journey.
