My next video will be a little different from my usual stuff - it's about generative AI

If you follow me on social media, you're probably aware I'm not a fan of AI, to put it mildly. I've been wanting to make a video on this topic for a long time, but it's a really depressing one to spend time thinking about, so I never got any further than a loose script/outline.

However, the other day I ran into an issue that was somewhat funny, but also very emblematic of one of the many problems I have with generative AI. I decided to record a 4 hour storytelling session, that I'm now editing down to about an hour or so. The first part is pretty light-hearted and exploratory, but the second half gets quite a lot more dark and personal. I'm hoping to release it within the next few days.

It's kinda terrifying releasing this, not just because it's outside the kind of videos I usually make, but also because it's an opinion piece that goes against something that is (justifiably) liked within the tech world. I fully expect the comment section to be full of angry strangers who reply before watching the video

But, I have strong opinions on this, and I do think this is a problem that is going understated, especially from the angle that I'm coming at this from. Even if you're a fan of generative AI, I'm hoping you can understand my perspective, and at least see the same problems I see. To me, the issue is bigger than anything having to do with energy use, copyright, or theft - it's about humanity, storytelling, and the purpose of art
