I got a little confused at first of not seeing her funnels and radar mast.. but then I forgot they’ll be placed in the museum/visitor center dedicated for the ship lol. Remember that this is a new chapter for the ships life. We shouldn’t lose hope because she won’t be forgotten. We can at least say that she’s escaped the breakers yard twice- the cutters torch won’t hurt her.

@ArthurthroughArt

The only view of her I ever had was from afar, and only the tops of her funnels. She was tricky to spot due to the area she was in, but once you did spot her it was easy to tell her apart. I hope that designers can at least take inspiration from SS United States in terms of her design and appearance. It won't be close to exact, but in someone would be a nice tribute that even now, her influence remains as these "half-sisters' now take to the waves and have even one carry her name.

That’s the aspirational date. I’m going on the final Monday of the month to see her before the end of the month.

update from the SSUSC's facebook page..... Ship Departure Update- There were media reports last week that suggested that the SS United States would depart Philadelphia for Norfolk on Friday, October 25th. We have learned from Okaloosa County that additional time for planning and necessary approvals will be needed to safely move the ship. Therefore, the vessel will not be moved on October 25th as was reported. As Okaloosa continues to work through the process of preparing the vessel for transport, we will endeavor to provide updates on potential move dates as soon as we have them. We realize that many people are interested in seeing the ship off in person and participating in this historic moment in some way. We will do all we can to provide as much notice as possible to help you plan effectively.
