Did 6 years in the marine corps. Some wild years. Felt like a lifetime I spent in the service. Best years and the worst years of my 23 years of life

I didn’t serve, but my father did in the Airforce. He was drafted into Vietnam, and trained and stayed in as a B-52 navigator. We are all very proud of him!

I personally didn’t serve but my family has a long line of service. Most notable was my grandfather who was drafted to serve in Vietnam. Served over there for two tours then came back to join the Air Force. Left a captain on medical discharge. Sadly he passed away a few years ago. Fly High Grandad. Fly High.

My dad was an Aircraft Mechanic in the German Navy for 13 years, working mostly on the Tornado IDS, Tornado ECR and Sea King. Both of my oldest cousins are Pilots in the German Air Force, both of them are flying the Eurofighter. My Uncle was a Colonel in the German Army and retired five years ago. Due to a medical condition (I had a bad motorcycle crash in my late teens and I have now 18 Screws in my spine for the rest of my life) I sadly wasn’t able to serve. I became a Paramedic, got an engineering degree afterwards and I‘m working now for a big European armaments company, but I‘m still working as a medic two weekends each month. Not because I have to but because I want to.

8 years in the army infantry. Some of the best and absolute worst times of my life. I will cherish that experience until I die.

I served two hitches. USAF from Jan. 1976 to Jan. 1980. US Navy from Sept. 1980 to Apr 1986. Overall I enjoyed the Navy hitch better. Got to travel a lot more. Did one overseas deployment. All my Airforce time, except bootcamp and tech training, was at an airbase 115 miles from home. My Father and my Mom, and her younger brother, were all Airforce. Uncle Larry retired at 30 years Dad's youngest brother was in the Navy.
