Strong Towns

Hi everyone!

We are in the process of making some big changes to the channel. Here’s what is in store:

Our movement is more than just one person, and it’s time our channel reflects that. This is why we are shifting away from a singular host (me, Mike) and moving toward a wider network of contributors — including new long-form videos featuring Rachel Leonardo, who you may recognize from our video shorts! Over the past several months, we have prepared for this transition by making small bets with short-form videos produced by Rachel and JonJon (the Happy Urbanist), and through this successful experiment, we are now ready to launch our long-form content “swarm” by handing the megaphone to you! 📣

Here’s how you join in:

📹 Are you a creator? Check out our new pitch structure at strongtowns.org/pitch
And submit a pitch to produce a video for us. If it fits the message and you’ve got the skills, we will pay for you to make it for us.

📺 Are you tuned in to everything YouTube Urbanism? Comment some of your favorite creators who you’d love to see contribute to our channel. Who haven’t we heard of and needs to be on our radar? Their content could be explainers, urbanism, transit, architecture, you name it! If they have a story that is on brand, we want to help them make it and assist their channel in the process.

We’re really excited for the launch of this next chapter alongside you all. We can’t wait to see what you produce!

Best,
-Mike

P.S. On a personal note, I have accepted a new job here in Chicago that will allow me to stay in a neighborhood I love and focus more on local advocacy. It’s been an honor creating these videos for you all and I can’t thank you enough for all of the encouragement and inspiration you’ve given me over the past year or so. You can now catch me at my local conversation in Chicago. Cheers!

A few Californians: nandert, Nimesh in Los Angeles, Just Another Student, and TODGod are worth checking out and none are as close to established as some already mentioned like Not Just Bikes and RM Transit (which I agree are two of the best). An interesting option might be The Aesthetic City which focuses on architecture and sustainability. However, I don't know of any other YT that has quite the same economic POV as Strong Towns.

Quick suggestion: make a French version of strong town for us Québécois! We have a lot of the same urbanistic problems and no one to talk about it in our language
