Have you tried “shadowing” before? It is a simple but powerful technique that can transform the way you speak and understand English. Here’s a quick, 3-step plan to get started:
1️⃣ Choose a short piece of audio: Listen to it a few times. Pay close attention to how words are linked, which words are stressed, and the specific sounds the speaker uses. 🕵️♀️
2️⃣ Shadow the speaker: Say the sentence at the SAME TIME as the speaker, imitating them as closely as possible. Focus on matching their speed, stress, and intonation. If you hear differences between your voice and theirs, keep practising!
3️⃣ Repeat until you sound more natural: The goal is to get into the habit of speaking and linking words together like a native speaker. This will help you sound more fluent, natural, and clear—and also make it easier to understand native speakers!
I use this technique with my students in my membership, and they love it! 💙
Give it a try and let me know how it works for you!
